View Full Version : DVD2SVCD Woes....

At the tip of a member from another forum, I got Link2 and CCE 2.62 to use for my safemode and video encoding programs. He said that his problems with CCE ended when he used this configuration, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

So, I put link2 as the safemode app, and CCE 2.62, and set it as my CCE app. I then restarted the DVD2SVCD process from the beginning.

When it gets to video encoding and runs link2.exe, however, it throws this error:

"The procedure entry point ConvertToGlobalHandle could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."

It does this twice before running CCE itself. Then once it gets that far, it throws 2 errors, the following:

"Read only 0 bytes, while expecting 12 bytes"

and

"CreateFile("FolderPathRemoved\Movi_avs-vfapi.avi"): The system cannot find the file specified.(2)"

And of course video encoding fails. I assume that the second batch of errors is due to the first errors, but I've no idea what could have caused any of them. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

I also tried encoding with TMPGEnc, and it worked fine for the most part, but the last (3rd) cd was about 100mb too big, despite that I specified file size to be 800mb. Why would it do this, and any ideas how to get all 3 cd's the proper size?

Thanks again in advance for your help :)

Hi UltimateDBZ,

welcome to the forum. ;)

Now to your problems:

With Link2, hmm, what OS are you using? See this thread for example (especially Bach's third post):

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25267

Perhaps, this applies to you also.

With the 3rd CD image being too big, this is not unusual when using TMPGEnc in "Constant quality (CQ)" mode because it is very hard to estimate the correct CQ value and DVD2SVCD does some test clip encoding to estimate this - but this can be slightly wrong and so you end up with a little too big last image file.

To help DVD2SVCD calculating the CQ value properly, increase the "Frames pr spread" and the "Spread" parameters in "Encoder" tab. Perhaps "80" and "60" is a better combination - but be aware that this increases the "test phase" a little bit.

See this thread for example:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26968

Hope this helps,
Gerti

P.S. I found the threads by using the words "tmpg* big" and "link2" or "kernel32.dll" ;)

Thanks for the quick response, I will try this.

If it makes a difference here are stats:

WinXP Home
P4 1.6
256 DDR (pc2100)

Doubt anything else would matter...
