I can split a .avi file into 2 seperates but cannot burn it!!

I have split the file, but whenever i try to burn each half my burning software freezes, and the task manager says it is not responding.

The same happens with some .mpg files when i try to burn them (even those that havent been split) yet the p[rogram freezes)

Other mpg files are fine.

What do i have to do to the files to make the burnable?

Do cd writers unable to burn .avi files???

I'm sure the problem you have has nothing to do with you splitting your avi file. You state yourself that you can't burn some of your mpg file also. You have a problem with your burn software itself or how it interacts with your computer. If you computer freezes while burning then you might have a irq problem. OR are you experiencing buffer underruns and your burning program "appears" to freeze? What are the symptoms exactly?

Cool thanks for the reply, yes i think you are right it is the burning software (nero 5). I can pretty much burn mpg/mpegs now, but when I try to burn .avi files I drag and drop and then click write.

The burning screen opens and at the top it says encoding but thats where it stops. After a while i click on task manager and its says "not responding".

Nero freezes at this point each and every time regardless of whether the files have been split or are small or large. It seems to encode automatically wheras mpg's do not, yet this procedure freezes.

Maybe I can use another program to encode. P.S. the opening screen states i can burn .avi files!!!!
