Hi

On a whim, I just bought a new Toshiba 1612 for ripping. What a mistake that turned out to be!! I have been reading the forums and it seems like a Pioneer 106 is a good bet. Not sure whether my local PC shop stocks Pioneer so anyone know what re-badged Pioneers are out there? For example LG or LiteOn since I know the shop stocks these guys.

Cheers

I have a 106 (UDMA 66) and a LITEON LTD163D(UDMA 33), both have good ripping speed. If in the UK, both may be available from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_CD_DVD_10.html

Thanks for the reply. Got a Liteon and it works a treat. Always difficult thinking of a reason to return it to PC World. Couldn't really say that the Tosh was no good for ripping off DVDs!!!

Hiya
I'm pleased to hear you resolved the problem, but what was the trouble with the Toshiba DVD? Please explain.

I was using a Toshiba DVD-RAM drive for ripping without problems...a little slow is all (2X).
