I don't know if I'm doing this right or not, but I'm having problems getting the 2-pass encoding give me the right size output. Everything is set to the default values. Here is some info on my setup:

VDub 1.4.10 & XviD May 22, 2002 (Koepi)

Clip
f8 trailer by Jason Wen (1minute) (352x200)
f8.mpg - about 8MB

1st pass
- everything default + lumi masking
pass1.avi - about 10MB
video.stats - 120KB

2nd pass int.
- everything default
- desired size: 5000KB
pass2.avi - about 15MB

Please let me know if this is a known problem and if it is fixed in a newer version of XviD.
Thank You!

Did you turn on lumi masking for the 2nd-pass too?

Yeap. The only difference between the passes was that I selected the 2nd pass option and enter the desired filesize. Did not change anything else.

Please don't take this the wrong way... But are you sure your clip has no audio in it?

DOH!

There sure is... and without the audio the file is about 5MB (what I wanted).

The strange thing is that in the original MPG, the audio is Layer2 96kbps, but on all the passes the audio is PCM. I had Direct Stream Copy set for the audio during all the passes.

When did the audio get changed?
