I have a 2 layer PAL DVD that I want convert to NTSC and then fit on two DVD+R discs. When I rip the DVD it has the IFO and 6 VOB files (about 5.17GB total size). When/how should I split up these files so they will fit on different DVD+R discs? Is it best to just do my size/fps conversion and encode with TMPGEnc then split the resulting m2v file or should I have 2 seperate encoding sessions and have two seperate .m2v files. Since I am processing the audio seperately, I am worried about A/V sync if I cut the .m2v file after encoding. But I really don't know what I should use to split up the 6 VOB files into 2 seperate groups.

best thing to do is plan for 1 dvd, will save you a lot of hassle, but you'll have to take a crash course in DVD authoring.

for the PAL to NTSC conversion, i found a site ages ago (dv-something) that had a PAL to NTSC aviscript which works like a charm, and you can link that with your ripping program and either CCE or TMPGENC and have the one encoding session.

I am having to drop the avg bitrate from the original 5850kbit/s to 4800kbit/s, and leave off the AC3 2.0 and subtitles to get it to fit. This is why I wanted to split it over 2 DVD+RW discs, but I think it is going to be such a hassle, so I am thinking of just dropping the bitrate and living with it.
