Hi,
I noticed and read a lot of the messages in this forum already and while I'm still rather new to the whole DVDR story, I want to apologize already if my question is answered somewhere.
So far the only movies I've ripped, I re-encoded with ReMpg mainly because it works mostly ok and rather straight forward. Now a lot of people use CCE because of the better quality. While I'll definitely give CCE a try to see for myself, my question mainly is: What is the difference of an ReMpg encoded M2V file versus a CCE encoded M2V file ?
Reasoning behind this is that I love to just use the Remux feature of IFO-Edit. Why do I have to do all the long editing/authoring in Spruce or Maestro and can't use the CCE M2V to remux my movie ?
Thanks.

The biggest difference, and the one that matters to remuxing the m2v, is that ReMPEG2 is a transcoder while CCE, and others, are encoders. This means that the frame structure (I-P-B), GOP structure, and even the pulldown flags are identical to the original.
Encoders will create new structures based on your preferences and the material.
