Hi, I downloaded some rare movies (with rare I mean not aval. in The Netherlands on DVD *not even import) on Svcd and they are ALL done with coneheads (1.85 instead of 2.35 with a 2.35 source) or If the original was 1.85 they were made 4:3 (without panscan, again conehead)..

What's the easyest way to add borders? re-encode or is there a faster solution? If I have to re-encode.. what do u people suggest for settings + app.? (TPMG, CCE or CCE using DVD2SVCD possible??)

some help would be cool because my hdd is really running low at the moment + the guides on Doom9 couldn't help me with these specific questions..

What's up with the fact that I get 0 replies to a quite normal question (if I'm wrong there, then flame me atleast:).. If I used 'well Shit' as subject (saying absolutly nothing) I would have had 4x the amount of views And replies I'll bet..

Well, I can't answer your question (I didn't try CCE yet, so I'd advise you to use TMPGEnc, and not use LSX because I had problems with it for borders). I suppose you have to reencode though.

You know, it happened to me also : asking a question and get no reply. If I don't get any reply, well, I try by myself instead of complaining...

Then if I find a solution, I write down as an answer in my thread so that people having the same problem can use my experience.

I would demux right of the CDs with BBtools. Change the aspect ratio on the m2v-part using either avestensione (http://www.offeryn.de/avestensione.htm) or "dvdpatcher" (untested by my) available on this forum. If either of these tools tell you that the video allready has a 16:9 AR there's not much you can do but reencode, tho.

Remux, author and burn. Do you have any questions on the latter, let me know.

cheers

@djidjo --> I'm am way too busy to be re-encoding stuff multiple times (always getting quality reduction, and then decide which way to go for 'the least bad quality'). Becides I've seen way too many much more simple questions in wrong forums (on this site) been answered properly.
tnx for you're input on the last part of your msg. (oh, and furthermore, I don't have that kind of Hdd capacity:).

@ulfschack --> TNX for your input. I'll get right to it and reply here with my results.

@djidjo --> make that first part of your msg, not last part (read back)..:)

@ulfschack --> Tnx for your input, both didn't work, there already set as 4:3. So I'm about to re-encode it thru tpmg probably (I'll check CCE too).

there already set as 4:3. So I'm about to re-encode ...

What?!

That's exactly right for you then! You WANT it to be 4:3 so that you can stretch those coneheads out by setting it to 16:9 ... typo?

no the flag is set to 4:3 but the accutal picture is not (so not anamorphic (or however that is spelled)..)

ulfschack means that setting the flag to 16:9 CAN trigger your DVD-player to play it as 16:9. But many players ignore this flag!
The you have to reencode, use TMPG and don't lower the bitrate, maybe you can increase it if the source is CBR and you use some VBR.
