Lets consider YUV12, YUV9 and YUV2:
Are these just alternative names to 4:22, 4:1:1 etc or the 12, 9 and 2 have nothing to do with subsampling? If they are related witch one is what?
If the 12, 9 and 2 are not related to subsampling, what is the difference between them and where did these numbers came from?
I understand 4:22 and 4:11 is how much of the original chroma samples were used in the "compressed" YUV file so that's not my question.
