does anyone know what the problem might be?
I used virtual dub, and second pass divx4.12

Hi-

Yep-that's the dreaded interlacing. I assume you used Force Film in DVD2AVI. Depending on exactly what kind of source material you have, and if the DVD is PAL or NTSC, you'll have to go back and make a new .d2v without Force Film (unless the DVD is PAL), and then either perform Inverse Telecine (IVTC) or Deinterlace.

You should probably look this up in the guides, or read some of the threads on the subject that are floating around.
