Sorry for the cross-post...but I was told this was an ifoedit issue instead?

Im ripping movies with dvddecryptor and then burning with primodvd... This particular movie Im working on (The One) is prett simple in that I just need to delete the vts_04_x.vobs. I didnt touch the rip other than that, and when I try to burn this in primodvd, it complains that there's a video_ts dvd format error.

That seems to be true since if I burn it anyway, it doesnt play in my standalone..but it does play in the xbox.

I thought it was ok to just delete unwanted vobs? Or am I missing something here?

Thanks!

To start with, I use Smartripper and Vob Instant CD/DVD so I can't comment as to the methods with your software. You can just delete unwanted VOBS but be careful that you update the ifo files !!!!
Are you running the vobs through IFOEDIT to get the updated sectors and pointers etc??
If you dont process it through Ifoedit it wont correct the *.ifo & *.bup files.
Once you have corrected these files - close ifoedit and re-start it again (Most Important).. Load up the film ifo file and select 'Get VTS Sectors' This will correct it so that the burnt DVD will play in a standalone.

Another test to see if all is well ( I usually do it before Get VTS sectors - which should be the last thing you do before burning ) is to load up the Menu ifo file in Ifoedit (Video_ts.ifo) and select the DVD Play button at the bottom of the screen. This should take you to the Main Menu and from there you can navigate through 'Play Movie'- 'Chapter Select' - and any extras that you are keeping on the Disc. All should play as if it were a disc in a standalone DVD player. When you exit from this it will tell you which titles it has played (ideal for those illusive sections you cant find!!). If it wont play like that - then it probably wont play once burnt onto DVD.

Another tip is that a DVD must have a vobset titled 1 (VTS_01_x.VOB) to keep in with DVD spec. So if you film is contained in say vobset 2 (VTS_02_x.vob) then you will need to rename the set as 1 before running through Ifoedit to correct pointers etc. I hope this helps :D

Happy Ripping
