hi
madmanic
what you are planing to do? f.e. when you do not downsample the audio fom 48khz to 44.1 this is aleady called x(tended)svcd..
or you can leave the original resolution of the dvd...
or making higher bitrae encodings...
so maybe tell us what you planing to do?

how do i know if i am downsampling the audio from 48khz to 44.1 or not?
where would it tell me this?
the reason i want to make xvcd & xsvcd is because a couple of friends of mine have "panasonjunk" players, they also have tons of original dvd's & want to trade me but i am currently making awesome "svcd's" that look & play great on my "apex"...but in order to get the movies my friends have i must make some that will play on theirs...my svcd are all audibly jerky on their player because the are only xvcd compatible...??? my "apex ad-1000" plays all...according to the database.
thanks in advance...

you can chnage the downsampling in the audio tab...
is this right?:your friends dvd player only plays vcd`s?
and when they play your svcd`s the audio is bad?
(i didn`t understand it right(cause my english)
so if you are willing to do (x)svcd`s for your friends make sure that a standard svcd plays correctly in their standalone, cause when they have probs. with a normal svcd than surley with a xsvcd.
maybe leave all settings in dvd2svcd as default and check downsamling audio(audio tab) and play the result in a friends player..
ps:maybe get some knowledge about (x)vcd`s and (X)svcd`s

my friends player only plays xvcd...i am making svcd's...the compatibility database on vcdhelp.com says his only plays xvcd...my question is if i make a xsvcd...do you think his player will play it?

mhh
it only plays vcd`s so this means a xsvcd will not play on it
cause a vcd is mpeg1 video
and a svcd mpeg2 video
this i ment with get some informations:http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcd.htm scroll a little bit down to the comparision between the different video formats....
the dvd player list is not always telling the truth..thats why i suggested to do a test svcd...
however its possible to do (X)vcd`s with the newer versions of dvd2svcd simply check under misc mpeg1 and in the frameserver tab rsize to vcd...maybe make at first a standard vcd(for trying)..
for mpeg1(vcd) tmpeg seems to be better than cce..
mhh i remeber a thread where a guy found a way to burn a svcd as vcd so it plays in all players .. as far as i remeber it was called something about"workaroun..)
maybe i find it again, than let you
know
