If I have an avi movie file. How do I find out what codec it has been encoded with? IS=s there a way?

If you install the codec ffdshow at http://cutka.szm.sk/xvid/xvid.html then open the movie and go to the properties of ffdshow it will show a name down to the left in "()" (what's the name for a "( )") ?

If the Avi is vfw based you could also drag it to VirtualDub and look in "file information" under "file".

MS Word recommends the following:

Parenthesis
Parenthesise
Parenthesises
Parentheses

The two first ones would probably be singular form. And then we have the lovely duality of US and UK English.

I'd say "Closed Paretheses" ... but that's only parenthetical
