Have been going along great backing up DVD's
until I tried Willie Wonka and the Chocolate
Factory. IFOedit picked titles 1, 2, & 3.
However all the VOB's are VTS_01_0 to VTS_01_7.
There is no VTS_02's or 03's etc. Total files
size is 6.8gb. This is the first time I
have seen this. Any suggestions?

I think you need to preview each chapter and decide which ones are bonus and extra and which ones are the movie.
Then use the VOB extra feature to remove non needed chapter and remove not needed audio tracks and subtitles.

I opened and viewed each VOB file. The first was is all extras. The second VOB is extra plus the movie. The 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th, is all movie, and VOB 7 is half movie half extra. Is there a way to seperate the extra from the VOB that contains the needed movie part? I think if I could seperate 1 and 7 extras then I could fit all on on DVD.

As Klona said, seperate the material by chapters (or cells), stop thinking in terms of files, they are split arbitrarily without regard to content.

I used VOBsplitter to cut out the extras. However I can
only get this movie down to 4.8gb. There is nothing left but
the movie. Actually I have the menu to play selection, but that is a very small file. I saw on one of the forums here a list of movies that fit on 1 DVD. Willie Wonka was one of them. So I must be doing something wrong. Anymore suggestions? Thanks.

I have the pal version of willy wonka and it's only 3.98gb and thats with all the extras so there was no need to strip it.

yes the pal version can be copied full with dvd decrypter.
But there is now a special edition out which is in wide and full screen, with extra's.

I have'nt tried Willie Wonka but I tried to reduce Dungeons & Dragons onto 1 disc but could'nt quite get it. I have given up with Transcoding due to the time it takes on my PIII 650 ( over 24 Hours!) so I burnt it onto 2 discs (Ifoedit option). That way I had all the film and all of the extras as well. As the price of DVD-R is coming down - my latest was £0.85p (GBP) a disc !!!! WOO-HOO and they work fine - it hardly seems worth stripping the films down if it turns out to be difficult.
Happy ripping.
