Hi all,

Using Gknot to rip, but on the DVD2AVI stage, during preview, it does not want to settle on NTSC or FILM...

It goes from FILM 72% for 1-2 seconds, then to NTSC 25% for 1-2 seconds, and even if I allow the whole clip to play on, it just keeps switching between the two.

So my question is how do I know for sure what setting to use? Do I use ivtc or not?

PS Encoding anime - Escaflowne - Episode 2 from the bilingual DVD, (not box set version).

You can take it as a rule: if you see interlacing on an Anime, it has to be IVTCed for sure.
Why? because Anime is a drawing, and drawings can't be interlaced, or can you draw an interlaced anime?! ;)

Hi-

Vision Of Escaflowne must be IVTC'd.

Hi,

Following the guide (http://www.doom9.org/gknot-decomb.htm) for ivtc'ing in gknot with decomb, there is one thing that confuses me:

It states in the guide that the frame-rate should remain unchanged?

My source is NTSC @ 29.970. I thought that in order to ivtc, one had to change the framerate to 23.976?

Do I leave it at 29.970 if I use decomb, but change it to 23.976 if I use the gknot "inverse telecine" option on th "save & encode" screen?

Please advise?

many thanks

In DVD2AVI leave it as is, so 29,97fps, NO Forced Film.
Then choose in GKnot Inverse Telecine.
Inverse Telecine will automatically convert your anime to the original 23,976fps
