I'm playing around with a pseudo-fansubbing experiment using a hand-made SRT file, converting it to SSA (SRTtoSSA Converter) and then using the "Subtitler" filter for VirtualDub to get the subs back into my video.

My problem seems to be when the subs break the halfway point of the 2 hour movie. During the conversion to SSA, I get an error regarding subtitle number 675. Here is the subtitle in question, exactly as it appears in my SRT file:674
00:59:21,738 --> 00:59:24,605
You... about me...

675
01:00:03,146 --> 01:00:04,010
Why?And then the last line of my converted SSA file (where it gets stuck):Dialogue: Marked=0,0:59:21.73,0:59:24.60,Default,NTP,0000,0000,0000,!Effect,You... about me...\N \n675\n01:00:03,146 --> 01:00:04,010\nWhy?You can see that the change from 00:59:xx to 01:00:xx seems to be screwing the conversion up.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am using the latest versions of everything in question, but I am out of ideas. I tried everything I could think of and I'm about ready to throw in the proverbial towel on this one :(

I just thought of something and I'm going to try it now... I was wondering if changing the 1:00:xx to 00:60:xx might work. I'll let you know, but if anyone else has any ideas, please let me know.

Try to convert your file with Subtitle Studio and see how it works.

Subtitle Studio won't open my SRT file, my SSA file, or my SRT file saved as TXT. Keeps saying format is not supported.

I did contact the author of the SRTtoSSA Converter. He said it was obviosly a bug with his program and he was going to get back to me with a fix (soon I hope).

Okay... I made a bunch of modification to my SRT file and got it loaded in Subtitle Studio. I then resaved it as an SRT file and SRTtoSSA actually worked! I have no idea why (I didn't change anything in the actual SRT, just opened and resaved).

So it looks like I am good to go.
