View Full Version : Question: Which features of BeSweet to include to VStrip GUI ?

Wahooo, I´ve just finished the DLL for my company and so I´m able to start my work on the VStrip GUI concerning BeSweet configuration.
May be some of you´ve followed the discussion on the development board http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23925 on the VStrip GUI.
Aquaplaning has integrated support for the BeSweet DLL in the VStrip GUI. I´ve agreed to code a configuration page (or 2 or 3 ? :D) to configure BeSweet.
My question here: What features would be interesting to configure ?
Write down your wishes in this thread but please do it in a sorted way. Something like that:
MP3:
ABR 96 to 160 kBit
CBR 96 to 160 kBit
(just for example)
I´ll try to nail down some specs be4 I actually start coding.
Kind regards,
D$

1 thing: an option to specify your own command-line for BeSweet

for me these options are vital, but allowing to specify a command line would satisfy every exotic wish.
lfe 2 lr -3db
gain max
drc heavy
ogg quality 0.050

the idea is to have a visual configuration form for less-expert users ;).

Hi all !
Thanks for answering but....
the idea is to have a visual configuration form for less-expert users
and that´s why my question still remains somewhat unanswered.
I could add ALL features of BeSweet to a configuration but does this make really sense ?
Doesn´t this just mean information overflow for less experienced BeSweet/VStrip users ?

would this thing you work on make the ripping take as long as encoding? because then it would be a no go for the dvd drive's health's sake.
and how is it gonna work anyway: do i select my video stream and my 2 audio streams as usual, and then instead of some vobs and 2 ac3 files i find some vobs and 2 ogg files after i come back?
that could be nice, of course only if it doesnt make the dvd spin for a longer time.
and while you are working on the gui, maybe you could also implement this: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26662

-D$ let's start with a simple support for DD's profiles!
in your BeSweetGUI directory, you'll find "DD-Profiles.ini". at the end of the file you'll find something like :[BeSweet]
cofferscuffs_136abr_sex0r=-azid( -z1 -b1 -c light --maximize ) -ssrc( --rate 44100 ) -lame( -m j --noshort --abr 136 -b 32 -B 224 -p --lowpass 16.5 --athtype 2 )
DSPguru_ogg@90kbps=-azid( -c normal -L -3db --maximize ) -ogg( -q 0.200 )
DSPguru_mp2@192kbps=-azid( -c light -L -3db --maximize ) -2lame( -m s -b 192 -e )
DSPguru_mp3@128kbps=-azid( -n1 -c normal -g 10db -L -3db ) -ota( -G max ) -lame( --scale 1 --alt-preset 128 )how about adding a combobox that lists all the profiles/presets and let the user pick it.
the commandline could still be changed by advanced users (like pacohaas ;)).
for more info on those profiles, download BeSweetGUI v0.6beta50 and play along with it.
@peter
yes, that's the general idea..

hm. how can it not spin longer? if ripping normally lasts 20min and encoding 30min, not to speak about 2 tracks? or is the output buffered if it cant be processed in time?
and what does
:o
say?

sure, the overall process will take longer (although it'll take less than the original Ripping+Encoding time), but i don't know about the implications of that on the dvd drive. need to be checked.
anyway, why don't you download the current release of BeStrip and run some tests ?
and what does
:o
say? i believe that 1e6 was a little bit exaggerated..
