i asked ages ago why i might have choppy ac3 playback.
i think now i might have found out why: on my other computer ac3 playback works fine, and when i check the properties in wmp6.4 i see it uses ac3 parser filter and cyberlink audio decoder.
on the computer with the choppy playback its ac3 parser filter and intervideo audio decoder.
so my conclusion is that this intervideo thing must be crap. i dont know how it came on my machine. i have powerdvd installed on this machine too, so it should also have cyberlink audio decoder.

so my question is: how can i remove this intervideo thing? i use win2k.
i checked in the system properties, but this one is not listed among the audio codecs.

shit!
i now deleted some GUIDs in the registry which had "intervideo" in their friendly names, now ac3 arent played at all! altough i have powerDvd installed and therefore should have the cyberlink decoder! what is going on?

and a general question: how can i associate a certain filtype with a certain palyback filter?

you can do that manually through the registry, but the best way will probably be to reinstall the application that installed the filter in the 1st place... (or just reinstall the filter if it was 'stand alone).

cheers

Just for the record:

regsvr32 -u iviaudio.ax
and then you can delete this file from your system directory.
