The SPDIF interface can pass PCM, DTS or DD streams to your receiver/amplifier for decoding.

i have read the AC3/SPDIF Q&A and have a question about this part

Now i have been looking at specs of many Soundcards - ie the Soundblaster line, and many have a SPDIF 'IN' interface - looks like a yellow RCA connector. But i have not seen one anywhere with an SPDIF 'OUT' interface to pass the streams as mentioned above.

If they dont have an 'OUT'interface then how does this happen? or have i missed something bleeding obvious:confused:

Yellow RCA jack of SB Live! player 5.1 is SPDIF out/bass-center analog out (it depends on driver settins).

thanks for that answer, beleive it or not that is what i was hoping someone to say. now this leads me to another question.

see http://www.soundblaster.com/products/sblive5.1/specs.asp

the spec of this card definitely says that is S/PDIF IN and that there is no OUT. So how does an IN become an OUT?

CD_in, AUX_in, TAD_in, CD SPDIF_in are placed on the card, MIC_in, LINE_in, LINE_out(front), LINE_OUT(rear), Digital_out/Bass-Center analog_out are placed on the outside panel. Look at the "5.1 connectivity" on
