Hi !

This might sound like a dumb nOObie question but here we go:

How I normalize an AC3 to 0 dB while transcoding to MP3 using BeSweet ?

I normaly call BeSweet with the following OTA parameters:

-ota (-g max)

IMHO this should normalize the AC3 track before encoding to MP3 with a maximum level
of 0 dB because a level of 0 dB is maximum by default.
Wrong ?
Right ?

Or must it be something like: -ota (-g max -G 0) ?

This really bothers me because some DVD rips I made have a much lower volume compared to my VHS captures. For my VHS captures I denoise and normalize also to 0 dB using Soundforge.

Thanx in advance,
D$

-g max is fine. ( no need to add -g 0 )
anyway, if this isn't loud enough for you, you could assert dynamic compression : -azid( -c normal ) for instance...

Hi DG !

Iīm already using dynamic compression at normal level but to me my
converts from VHS (audio normalized with Soundforge) have the same volume as TV channels or a VHS played back in my VCR while I have to crank up the volume of my TV when I play back DVD rips with an audio track done with BeSweet (with the parameters discribed above). I donīt get this. May be I should use a higher dB value for normalizing ? Or is 0 dB maximum ?
Will an AC3 track be clipped when I encode using -ota (-g max -G 3) ?

Thanks,
D$
