I used to be able to lower the hardware acceration on my old Win98 system and take pictures with a simple screenshot program. But with my new XP system that doesnt work. Anyone know a program/method to take pictures with avi's?

You need to turn off video overlay probably. You can do this in players like BSPlayer. Otherwise all you capture is a blank image.

Hello !!!
I don't know if i understand right, but windows xp has a internal screenshot function !!! Just press PRINT SCREEN on the right top of your keyboard or ALT + PRINT SCREEN if you just want to copy the current acivated window, like bsplayer or so on !!! Then go to MSPAINT, or another paint programm, and press CTRL + V to insert the picture, now save it to HDD !!!

That player is love ^_^
thunder your suggestion is what I tried to do in the first place. Seems that can't be done with XP. Not sure if the video card (GeForce4) mattered or not.

It seems that you can't do that with a geforce card because of the overlay, i've got a kyro 2 and it works !!!

Running WinXP with a GForce 2 MX400 can still use print screen to capture while playing an avi. Just tried it. Can paste it into just about any document.

As stated. It depends on whether your card is using video overlay or not.
