just to inform you that spyder2555 is working on a java muxer/demuxer for MCF. He stated the current status of it is equivalent to libmcf, so whatever is in there is suported by his tool. Its called MCF4Java and the code is available in the CVS of MCF ( http://sf.net/projects/mcf ).

...and where is the DSHow filter? ;)
Nice progress. Though I'd prefer a platform-specific binary with GUI (*nix/X, win32,..)

I just wanted to add that all of the features aren't yet complete. Muxing is extremely buggy at the moment butit will correctly demux robUx4's sample files from the libmcf muxer(including laced frames). I am working on fixing the muxer ATM.

I guess you all go by time to http://dlres.java.sun.com/JSCDL/download/1301014501457513-421/0205724737330572474303-1088/j2re-1_4_0_01-windows-i586-i.exe and get the latest Java Runtime ( JRE ) as you will need it for spyder's parser 'JMF' and MilkmanDan's muxer/editor '-gemma' .... so we avoid sun's server gets an overload when both tools will be available :D !!

Just for the record, spyder's muxing/demuxing library doesn't have a name yet...that I know of anyway. But JMF (Java Media Framework) is his eventual target for development.
My app will need the JRE, but I'm gonna try to find a way of packaging it so that it's not necessary to dl it separatly. I hope, anyway.

Man next thing you know they'll be writing whole codecs in JAVA.
The world is doomed.

Just for the record, JMF is Sun's media framework for Java based apps, much like DShow for Windows. My library will probably be called MCF4Java, not sure though. My primary target is to provide a JMF muxer and demuxer for the format and a library equivalent to LibMCF in pure Java.
I also thought about a wrapper for the XviD codec in Java(allow JMF to use XviD). Any help with how the XviD API works would be appreciated ;-)

Download link for latest JRE has changed now : http://dlres.java.sun.com/JSCDL/download/1345009255002700-421/9002724737330572474303-1110/j2re-1_4_0_01-windows-i586-i.exe

Christian: plaese stop posting download links to the JRE, Sun keeps track of every download and the links you post only work for you. Gives others INVALID TICKET. The correct link is: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html
Just click Download by the distribution you want under JRE. There's no need to get the SDK unless you want to code in Java.
