Hello,

i want to ask you something about cropping. I use nandub and the resize filter...

an exaple, my ntsc movie is 720x480 (4:3) and when i crop it, ends at 702x344. (about 2:1 ratio)

Now my avi file what ratio should have? I want to view my movie on full screen with 1024x768 resolution.

thanx

Hi-

Welcome to the forums. I'd suggest using Gordian Knot to do your cropping and resizing. You'll wind up with perfect Aspect Ratio. You can get it at the downloads section of this site.

And you might want to check out some of the guides to give you more information.

thanx manono!

I used gordian knot with divx5.02 and i was very disappointed with the quality of my avi files. although the cropping was good.

Now i am trying the manual SBC mode, doing the sbc settings from nandub and with divx3.11 .

My first try was pretty good (an anime movie!).

Do u have any hints about setting manual apect ratios?

Hey them-

Since I'm a lazy GKnot user, I'd have no idea how to do them manually. However, there have been some threads in the GKnot forum from folks looking for information on the subject. So you might do a search to track some of them down.

And of course, you can't blame GKnot for a bad DivX5.02 rip, since it doesn't do any of the actual encoding. If you haven't checked out Doom9's guide to DivX 5.02, then you should read it. It's a pretty easy codec to work with. Easier than Nandub and DivX 3.11. Anyway-keep at it. If we all got perfect rips on our first try, where would be the challenge? Then any idiot could do it.

I don't blame GKnot, i like it a lot. i just think that divx5.02 dont do so much for the quality part. and GKnot with divx3.11 might be the ideal!

Anyway thanx for the info :)
