playing avi files

hi.when i come to play avi files in my windows media player it tries to d.l the codecs.but wont play my files :-((.can someone please help as its most anouying!!!.the error msg is"Unable to download an appropriate decompressor. (Error=80040200)"i have the normal media player.its somert to do with the sound!but ive got the codecs 4

Sounds like your using WiMP 7.1 or greater. What kind of movie are you playing? Is it Xvid, Divx or some type of MPEG? Are you sure you have the proper codec installed? If so, turn off the "automatic codec download" feature in WiMP.

Have you tried using a real player other than WiMP?:D

hi, i got the divx working ok.it was a ogg prob..lol @ me,anyways ive got another small prob.i have a film on 3 files and wanna no how i can join them all together? when i use nandub or tempg proggy it always comes up with an error."mpeg import filter:pack synce error" :-(
