View Full Version : AC3(synch)->WAV(synch)->MP3(asynch), I'm getting desperate...
Hello everybody
I'm trying to do an encode of the THE EVIL DEAD - BOOK OF THE DEAD DVD and I ran into synch problems.
The DVD caused problems from the beginning anyway (can explain, if necessary).
I ripped the vobs with smartripper in 'files' mode ('movie' mode did NOT work), then extracted the tracks with dvd2avi.
The resulting ac3s are completely synch (with a delay of EDIT: -49ms), but no matter which way I take from there, the final mp3 is NOT.
I tried BeSweet and lame(2.91&2.92)/azid, and it doesn't seem to matter which commandline options I use (e.g. -c heavy/--alt-preset standard).
BTW, the intermediate wav-file (if I don't use BeSweet, of course) is still as synch as the ac3 is.
Another thing: If I let the movie running, the audio gets more and more asynch, but when I jump directly to a scene, is not as asynch as if I youd just let it running... (the audio runs faster than the video).
Hopefully I gave you all the information you need an I don't ask a question, that is already answered (yes, I used the search function).
Any help really appreciated :)

Ok...
As said, no prob with muxing the ac3/wav.
The mp3 was muxed manually in nandub, settings:
- Interleaving every 1 frames (as recommended by doom9 for mp3)
- Delay audio track by -49ms (as dvd2avi tells me to...)
Would be great, if you guys over here could help me :) Thanks.

in what way is it not sync?
often audio is not sync if you jump to a frame in the middle of the movie. just press pause and play and everything is fine again.
more or less a playback problem...

In Nandub and in VirtualDub there is an option in Video (Framerate) that change ur framerate so Video and Audio durations match (for example: 24.999).
I don't know if you have it checked but try it if you haven't. It's so obvious that u will probably have it under consideration already, but who knows, after 24 hours w/o sleep we all make mistakes :) .
PS.
Sorry for my English.

Mp3 Vbr? Maybe this is the problem. Try again with cbr or ogg vorbis and tell us
I have the same problem.
DVD2AVI showed me a delay from 0.
But after Gordian Knot has finished his work, the movie is async with the language... it isn`t realy funny to watch the movie :(
I have made ALL the settings who are in the gordian Knot... but this cause the problem...
With GordianKnot 0.23 I havenīt these Problemes, but with the NEW GordianKnot.0.26
Can somebody help me to fix the problem???

Sorry for the bad english

Sorry, that it took so long.
No, it's definitely not of such kind... When I start the movie from the beginning, it gets asynch fast. When I jump to a scene, it's mostly not too much asynch, but gets much more asynch again after a few seconds.
I know that this sounds pretty weird, but I'm just describing it.
Let me explain someting else: As said, 'movie' mode in smartripper didn't work: The video stream (previewed in dvd2avi) started about 19 minutes after the beginning of the movie...
But when I checked 'demux to extra file', the *.m2v was correct, so I used it for the encode.
Now to the Audio: When ripped in 'movie' mode and then demuxed with dvd2avi, I got a file with a delay of about 1100000ms (~19min). First I thought that dvd2avi just went crazy, but if I encoded it to mp3 and then muxed it to the video, it was completely synch but started about 19min too late.
The audio I'm trying to use now, is ripped in 'file' mode and extracted with dvd2avi.
@Ac!D
Yes, when ripped with smartripper ('demux to new file') I also got a delay of '0ms', but when ripped as described above, the delay is '-49ms'. The problems are the same.
Well, imho the DVD is messed up in some strange way.
Would be nice to find a solution nonetheless, of course :)
