I just wanted to let everyone know about something interesting I experienced with my batch of Shop4Tech DVD-Rs (They are PrimeDisc/Ritek's). Burned about 25 of them, all working just fine in all my standalone DVD players, but hadn't tried them in my portable DVD player, a Panasonic L50, because that player just doesn't like any DVD-Rs at all (including Pioneer DVD-R) - until now!! It reads the PrimeDisc's just fine!

I was able to play ever DVD-R in it now, and the only real difference I've noticed between it and other DVD-R's is the dye is darker. A much deeper purple than say my Judysdeals or QTC's. Anyone else try Shop4Tech's?

I think I may switch from Judysdeals to Shop4Tech PrimeDisc's. The only complaint is the disc have an embedded "label" on the disc, so my transparent labels won't look too good. I'm using the labels with good sucess, since the paper ones caused some issues.

I don't think dye colour is a mark of compatibility, Apple/Pioneer/TDK discs are all very dark and are good discs , data safe golds are dark also and are crap discs

paper label (like neato photomatte?) have issues with DVD-R playback?
....
what kind of labels do you reccommend.

BTW are you associated with Shop4tech or Primedisc/Ritek ?

Sure, I'm associated with Shop4Tech - I'm a customer! I also posted good results for Judysdeals, does that make me an associate of their's too?

No, I'm just reporting my good results with a brand of DVD-R's. I liked the Shop4Tech's because they are cheap and have a bundle that included the DVD case.

Paper Labels: Yes, I would get bad results with a good disc AFTER I applied a paper label. Seems the label might be slightly off-center and would cause problems at the end of the movie. I know this because I would play the movie all the way to the end before applying the label, and it would be fine. After the label, the last few chapters wouldn't play right or at all.

I've switched to this very, very thin transparent Neato labels. They have almost no weight at all! So far, everyone has been a winner.
