Why isn't the newest version of SmartRipper (2.41) in the package?
Is 2.40 better just like Lame 3.91 is faster than 3.92?
Or...?

Quote from the "Encoder" tab:

DO NOT USE ANY OTHER RIPPER THAN THE ONES INCLUDED IN THE PACK!
read this line again, it's very, very important!!!!

Quote from the top of the "Ripping" tab:

Do not use d2v-project files created with smartripper 2.41, you might get async sound!

From what I recall of the readme for SmartRipper 2.41 the ONLY difference (from 2.40) is that it creates the project file (read: nothing else was added/broken/improved).

Including 2.40 instead of 2.41 is a fine idea. If 2.41 was included in the pack and it created the file, a lot of people would probably use that and the boards would be flooded with "Gordian Knot | SmartRipper AUDIO SYNC ERROR! PLEASE HELP! (I can't read!)"

i use the SmartRipper Version included in The GKnot package.
But it's always so slow!!!

I have a 16x Compaq DVD-Rom Drive, and i can hardly rip faster than
2x speed!!!

I often encoded DVDs lended from the Videostore (forgot the right word for it i'm german  ), and these often had some scratches on the surface.....
does that slow the ripping so much or is something messed up with my system/DVD-Rom?

cos 44 min of Ripping a 120 min movie is quite some time!!!

@Duplex Do you have UDMA enabled?

This will help speed up the ripping

Enabling DMA for my ROM, doubled my ripping speed. Thanks for the tip, ivan_alias. :)

ok it's because the d2v files aren't correct
I actually didn't notice this because I always use d2v-files created by DVD2avi (I think everybody does)
