At what minimum bitrate in GKnot would you consider switching to two Cd's rather than one?...is there a rule for such a thing? such as anything less than 700 or 650?
Any help would be appreciated

It really depends on the film.
This is what the compressability check is for too really.
I ahve some films that look really good at 550 kbit/s and some terrible 700 kbit/s ones.
A 90 min film should be no problem on 1 CD and a 2 hour one would be better on 2 CDs, but as I've posted in the general forum. I have a harry potter backup that looks really good on 1 CD and its 2 hours 20 in length!

I totally agree with Ivan. Each person has their own idea of what is a good encode. For me, I try to stay between 60 and 70%. If I drop below 60% I start considering another cd. If I use another cd then I usually up the audio to ac3.
But what it comes down to is what do YOU like? Try a few different encodes at different bitrates and see what you think.
