I set the compressibility check to 5%, then i hit the NOW button. Virtual Dub opens for a second and then GKnot says it's finished. But no compressibility stats will load into GKnot. So I checked the log file and here is what is said:
+ Unknown Error: Compressibility Check Failed.
+ Compressibility Check: DivX 4
----------------------------------------------------
9:24:17 AM: Started DivX5-First Pass: D:\DivX\Divx5\GORDIA~1\LastCompCheck.avs
9:24:18 AM: Finished DivX5-First Pass. Duration: 0 seconds.
9:24:18 AM: Trying to open Log-file.
9:24:18 AM: Error: Could not open D:\DivX\VOB\Waking Life\waking life_5_perc_D5_NeutralBicubic_592x320.log
9:24:18 AM: Error: Could not count encoded Frames.
9:24:18 AM: Speed: 0.000 Frames per Second.
-By the way, i uninstalled DivX 4 so i don't know why that first part comes up; and i'm using DivX 5.02 Pro

It works if I use VDub separately. But I wanted to see the compressibility of the movie since that will give me a better quality movie in the end.
is there any way to fix this problem?

ah.. thats exactly the problem that I am having.
What is wrong? The programs(VD, etc)or the video source?

i'm pretty sure it's either gknot or vdub because i've tried it on several movies and i've tried it using my friends computer also, and i keep getting the same error

I don't Know if it helps anyone here, but I noticed the same problem. Working on it a bit, I concluded that it only does this when I do fast deinterlace on a movie.
The movie won't start encoding , won't do compressibility check and on the preview windown I will get something like
"Avisynth caught an access violation at 0c01f9bf1
attempting to read from 0x0890d000"
Taking out Fast deinterlace, or using field deinterlace, everythings works fine.

PS Aspect Error 0.0% (just in case someone thought that maybe that was the problem..
one more thing: everything was ok and fast de interlace was working just fine until yesterday, when I installed the GKnot .26 upgrade.

Which version of vDub? I know that a too old one gives you this exact response.
Always As up-to-date as I can be :)
VDub 1.4.10

i'm using the latest version of vdub (1.4.10). and i'm not using fast deinterlace or anything. just all of the normal options as described in doom's guide.

yep, I am using Inverse Telecine when it gave me problems. It works when I am not using any deinterlacing...

what aspect error do you have? try to be as close to 0.0 . for test reasons, try a resolution with 0 aspect error to see if that works.
as a rule i always use smartcrop at the end of whatever cropping i've done, manually or otherwise

you can have both, even in the same directory. just rename the old in "GKnot_old.exe" or something.
@tharakan:
before you press now, press preview to check the frameserver.
is the problem just the comp-check or is it possible to encode a full movie? (probably not)
do you have more the one copy of vdub on your hd? maybe gknot is still using the old one? - check the path.

aeh... the problem definitely has nothing to do with the aspect error.
