I have DVDit and powerdiector both of which can't import vobs.
So I used DVDx to convert to SVCD standard Mpeg.

DVDit still didn't take them but powerdirector did. I want to avoid this pain in the ass procedure including using Tmpeg to convert.

I heard that videopack 5 can accept vobs directly, does anyone know if this is true? are there any other programs that can do this?

also I could not get DVDit to accept d2v files however, the guide on this site mentions this method.

Use DVD2AVI to create D2V file then use VFAPI to convert it into a fake avi. This can be opened by DVDit but it'll take forever when DVDit demux it to mpeg and remux to vob. DVDit is not very good when demuxing/remuxing video files. My suggestion is to let TMPG encode the files into mpg then load it to DVDit. This is faster but if you have the luxury of time... its your call.
