I have been trying to re-encode a video to reduce its size.
My source is : DVD Video 720x480, NTSC 29.97 fps, interlaced, bottom field first.
1. I made a d2v project with field operation to 'none'
2. Loaded d2v into TMPG performed IVTC (set Bottom field first) saved tpr project.
3. Loaded tpr into VFAPI and made pseudo AVI
4. Loaded AVI into CCESP 2.62 (Unchecked Top Field First and Progressive) and started transcoding.
Result was 23.97fps video which was playing ok on PowerDVD. When I pulled down the stream to get 29.97fps, it was showing combing effect when playedback with PowerDVD. I checked the field order in Bitrate Viewer, it showed Top Field First. So I changed the field order with
pulldown.exe source.m2v target.m2v -nopulldown -tff even
Field order changed to Bottom but the playback was still showing combing. I even tried Derim's Easy Changer, which changes field order, but changing field order did not help in anyway.
TRIED ANOTHER WAY:-
I Swapped the Field Order in DVD2AVI project and kept the Field Order Top First all the way till pulldown. The result was no different from the previous session.
In past I had been dealing with interlaced movies with Top Field First, I never had this kind of problem. The only difference between past projects and this one, I feel is Field Order.
Can anybody guide me on this?
Thanks.
P.S. I assumed that CCE always keeps the field order to TOP, no matter you check or not the Top Field First checkbox.
