View Full Version : -2 error on opening divx 5.02 files

I just tried to capture with divx 5.02, and it worked flawlessly in different resolutions, in YUY2 as well as RGB24. The files also play in Media Player and in PowerDVD, but when I try to open them with VirtualDub 1.4.10 (which was also the capture program I used!) I get no picture and an error -2 bad input format.

When I write an avisynth script that only opens the file with "avisource("f:\capture.avi")", I also get an error -2 bad input format when trying to open this in media player.

Is it something with presets from 5.01 in VDub again, or what could be the problem?

EDIT: I just checked out if I can open files that I encode to Divx - this works (captured in Hufyuv, converted to Divx with VDub, then opened again and no problems at all!)

No one has any explanation for this? :(

I just reset all VDub capture settings (deleted all registry settings), I uninstalled Divx5.02 and reinstalled it. Still the same.

No matter what capture settings I use, if the codec is Divx5.02, I can't open the captured file in VDub. (I can open it, but as soon as I move the slider, it says "VideoSourceAVIerror: the source image format is not acceptable (error code: -2)".
The file plays in Media Player, though, and seems to be perfect.

When I capture with huffyuv compression, I can open the captured file in VDub - I compress this to Divx5.02 using fast recompression, I open the resulting file in VDub and no problem!

So, where is the difference? There must be a difference between saving to divx in capture mode and saving to divx in normal mode, but why? And where?
