I encoded a 2 hour and 15 minute movie last night while using the new GKnot .25, along with the divx 5.02 codec. Previously when using the GKnot .23 and the divx 4.12 codec, I would set my CD size for a 2 CD encode, at 690MB per CD. The end result would give me a file size of approximately 1.35 gig.
Well my experience with this new codec I thought I should set my CD file size for the same, 2 CD’s at 690MB per CD. My end result with this divx 5.02 codec was a file size of ONLY 1.02 gig. I still have well over 300MB that I could have used with a higher bitrate. Should I have set my CD file size for 800MB per CD in GKnot? I’m trying to get the closest file size for a 2 CD encode (cd-r’s being 700mb cd’s). I’m wondering why GKnot couldn’t calculate the file size properly, or at least closer than the 1.02 gig file I got when I set the file size to 2 CD’s at 690MB per CD. I was hoping to at least get an end result of 1.30 gig. Any suggestions?
Lastly, when I ran my 5% compressibility check, I noticed the tab said divx “4” compressibility check, however I encoded with the divx 5.02 codec.
