There are 3 eps on each dvd I think.
I have Simpsons and Oz on dvd and I want to rip them with dvd2svcd using Cinema Craft Encoder 2.50. I want each show to end at the end of the tv show. Will it do it automatically or do I have to change some options?
Thanks in advance

use the internal ripper and just select the episodes(chapters) that you want, and make sure the bitrate tab is adjusted to fit that amount of minutes on your CD.
TV shows are generally 23 minutes or so, so you should be just fine putting 2 on a single CD.

You might not be able to get them to rip with the internal routines. I had to use vstrip to get it to work. If you select internal then it wont list all the episodes (sometimes only the longest) that are on the DVD. If you use vstrip and then sleect the length (in the chapter selection) that you want you should be able to rip and convert each episode. I know that in Sex and the City I had to use vstrip to get it to go.

When it comes to Episodes I use smatripper to decode each ep into the movie folder on DVD2Svcd then load the IFO from the rip ..Works great ;)

Other rippers are not supported. Use only the included rippers unless you have no other choice. Sync and other issues are common when using other rippers.

My first post - apologies in advance ;)
My experience with DVDs containing TV episodic content is that the internal rippers of DVD2SVCD do not work - or at least, they do not work the way you would expect. In most cases, the internal rippers show ony the longest video stream - so if your DVD has 6 episodes with 5 of them being 28.x minutes and 1 of them at 29.x then you will only be shown the option to rip the 29.x episode. The one exception to this is if there is a separate .ifo for each episode (rare).
I use SmartRipper to get around this. SmartRipper will correctly identify the start and end points of each episode and allow you to rip them separately (each to a unique folder on your hard drive). Once ripped you may then use DVD2SVCD to encode the individual episodes (perhaps even in batch mode so that you might process them all back-to-back - though I have not yet tried this). I have not yet encountered a single problem using SmartRipper as an external ripper - and I have used it extensively.
One thing to be aware of, and this is important, is that the DVD2AVI process (one of the first processes to be called by DVD2SVCD) will halt if there is not a contiguous .vob file sequence. What do I mean by this? Bear with me...
If you rip (using SmartRipper for instance) the first episode into it's own unique folder you may end up with the following files:
vts_01_01.ifo
vts_01_01.vob
vts_01_02.vob (may only be partial)
The two .vob files contain the complete audio and video streams of the first episode - DVD2AVI will have no problem processing these files as they are contiguous - 01 followed by 02.
Things get interesting when you rip subsequent episodes. Let's say you rip the third episode into it's own unique folder - and you end up with the following files:
vts_01_01.ifo
vts_01_01.vob (may be 0 bytes in length - this is normal)
vts_01_03.vob (may only be partial)
vts_01_04.vob (may only be partial)
In this case the video and audio streams are contained within .vob files 03 and 04. The 01.vob is there as a start-of-sequence reference only (presumably). Notice that there is no 02 .vob file - as you would expect, as it's not required for this episode. The only problem is that DVD2AVI does expect it - and will halt (and not repsond) if it is not there. This is a flaw within DVD2AVI because there is no valid reason for it to reference this file.
The work-around: Simple - make a copy of the 0 byte vts_01_01.vob (or of any other 0 byte file for that matter) and rename the copy to vts_01_02.vob - done. If you are higher into the .vob sequence then simply repeat this procedure for all other 'missing' interim .vob files. All you doing is creating a contiguous, albeit dummy, .vob sequence.
I hope this makes sense. The issue is much more difficult to explain than it is to resolve - it's really very easy. With this knowledge, you should find the ripping of episodes off DVD and converting via DVD2SVCD to be a very straight-forward experience.

I have found that ripping episodic DVDs with the internal routines wont work, if you use vstrip though it will work. When I am ripping Sex and the City. It has 6 episodes on each DVD. When you select the internal routines it only shows the longest episode. Like you said about the 28.x and the 29.x episodes it will only show the 29.x. BUT if you switch to vstrip then you will be able to rip each episode. When you click on the movie length tab then it will have each episode listed in order that they appear on the DVD. I have been able to back up All of the Sex and the City series and various anime that are episodic DVDs.

to prove everyone wrong here, I got out my simpsons DVD and tried the internal routines. not to my surprise, it worked just fine. I was able to select any of the episodes that I wanted to, and even select the individual chapters within each episode. It works just fine.
I'm trying to do the same thing with seasonal X-Files disks.
There are four episodes on each disk. I am trying to use internal rip to get episode three but from the frame count it looks like it's converting three or possibly all four episodes. How this happened, I have no idea.
If anyone has successfully converted individual episodes from X-Files disks, I would very much like to get exact instructions. I've searched the forums for x-files and found some ideas and after reading here, some say use other rippers and some say don't. I just hope to get it working soon. Until I can read from others using internal rip, I'm going to try the contiguous .vob file renaming. I had the problem described with DVD2AVI when using smartstrip.
Thanks again from noobie grasshopper.

After you load the DVD into DVD2SVCD in the Conversion tab - Click on the Movie length dropdown and you will see the 4 episodes on each X file disk as a 50 or so minute chapter. DVD2SVCD will always select the longest chapter but you must manually select the one you want by checking the correct chapter box and unchecking the others. Each episode will fit nicely onto one CD. Do each episode as a separate conversion.

Bob,
You are absolutely correct and I stand corrected.
Interal rip works great. I finally found where to select the segment I want and I click on the segements I don't want and click on "none" in the chapter selection.
Now,... if you have any suggestion on the X-Files "Bonus" disk, I'd like to know. There are a lot of separate files and I'd like to process them all at once.
