hi all

in VCDeasy there is an option to make only the XML file - where am I supposed to put it in the vcd folders if I want to burn the mpg file using NERO 5.5 for example (instead of producing BIN/CUE files)?

thanks,

I think I do not understand what you want to do... because if I understand it OK, it is preety absurd :-)

The XML file VCDEasy generates contains the description (the "configuration file", let's say) of the (S)VCD for another program, VCDImager. That file instructs vcdxbuild.exe (part of VCDImager) how to construct the SVCD image file.

Nero, on the contrary, does not use XML at all, it builds the structures in memory and then burn it to CD.

XML has nothing to do with (S)VCD (AFAIK), simply is the format VCDImager uses.

So, the XML serves no purpose if you do not use VCDImager to generate the SVCD.

I use the function of "create XML file only" to then edit by hand the file to include some options VCDEasy does not allow to do and the I create the SVCD with VCDEasy as a GUI of VCDXBuild/CDRDAO, using the "tools" section.

I didnt know that... I thought the xml file is being saved along with the vcd image - which now I know is wrong...

thanks!

I'm glad this topic was mentioned. I wasn't sure about the xml file purpose. If it's created when creating the bue/cue file should I keep it or is it nolonger of any value to me, is it actually used during the burning process? Where can I find information on how to use the xml file before creating the bin/cue file? Can I please get a few examples of how this can be used?

VCDImager uses the XML file to generate the bin+cue SVCD image, so after creating them you no longer need it... but the XML file is really small, so I usually keep it (I even put it in the SVCD) until everything about the SVCD is finished.

The XML file controls everything about the structure of the SVCD, so is really important; you can read about it in the VCDImager home page, vcdimager.org

Thanks for the info, I was hoping you could give me one example of editing the XML file to include some options VCDEasy does not allow.
