I start ripping dvd's with my friend,we have the same system, using the same programs (dvd2vcd and cce 2.50 )but extracting the audio to ac3 takes me not even 5 minutes and my friend needs almost 25-30 minutes. Is it because of the internal soundcart onboard?
We both have:
WindowsXP professional
Amd 200xp
512 mb memory
same harddisk 7200 rpm
The only differens is that I have a soundblaster live, and my friend a soundcart onboard.
Any answer is welkom, thanks a lot!

It has nothing at all to do with the soundcard.
It has to do with the options, original file size and the computer speed. If your buddy is down sampling and you are not this will make a big difference when you are trancoding the sound.
