Hi I have some Avi files of disney and was trying to convert them using AVI2SVCD with cce2.5 but it keeps crashing.
If I use tmpgenc then it finished ok but when I play the file back I get perfect audio but no picture.
What I see is this text in red writing

AVI doesn't have an index block
Avisynth script file.avs line 3 or something like that.

Is this because I was only converting part of the file.
I downloaded the avi to see what the quality was like so I do not have the full AVI.
If I download and convert the full AVI will I see the picture instead of this message.
Is there any way I can get CCE to work with these files instead of Tmpgenc ?
All help appreciated.

Have you tried to run the AVI file though the filters that are on the Tips tab when you switch to AVI2SVCD?

yes m8 doesn't work :(
The source file cannot be converted by this application.
I can convert them manually using tmpgenc but I would rather use AVI mode in DVD2SVCD

Do they play fine on the comp that you are using to do the convert? I felt like a fool a week ago when I went to encode a AVI that I had and I couldnt get it to work. I forgot that I never installed Divx 5.0 on my conversion machine. You also might want to try installing the Divx 3.11 codecs. I have heard that even though the file will play fine it might have some problems converting if you dont have those codecs there.

lo m8
I have all the codecs installed.
I was just wondering if it was because I was only trying a small sample but the file was still reading a full index.
ie
Sample was only 10 mins but in properties or when playing still reg as 1hr 30mins but only is 10 mins

That sounds like what the problem is. I would try to convert the whole thing when you are sleeping and see how it turns out. It takes about the same time as it takes to make a DVD into a SVCD. I did notice that I got a little bit faster encode speed in CCE when doing an AVI file.
