A friend of mine is trying to encode a movie(DVD2AVI project->VFAPI->VD) but VD randomly halts with an error "Error decompressing frame 27640" or similar. I tried several codecs to confirm that this was not a problem with DivX. Also, the only filter used was the standard resize filter. No audio was processed. XMPEG 4.5 compresses the video without any errors whatsoever. We tried with different DVDs, but we always get the same error(at different video positions every time). Are there drawbacks for using XMPEG for 2-pass divx compression(except for the obvious speed disadvantage)?

Which version of vDub? There are known issues with <1.4.10 and no sound.

is it the -100 decompression error?
if you you have a freeze frame :P
i'm forever finding them in movies i've downloaded.
the only program that works with them dislikes VBR too.....so if anyone has a solution to freeze frames in VBR audio movies that doesnt involve recoding the audio i'd be grateful if you'd tell me.

Freeze frames? Hardly, because it was a DVD that we had ripped and were trying to recompress to DivX.
