Should I backup DVD to VHS or HDD?

Hi,

I know there are several choices to backup DVD: record to VHS, ripping to HDD, and convert to VCD/SVCD/DivX.

I want to know which is the best way to backup DVD?

Are you taking a poll? If you are you should have placed this in the announcements section. Only you know what you plan on doing with these dvds. If you have a standalone dvd player and want to watch them there, make SVCDs. If you plan on watching them on your computer, make DIVXs. I can't recommend VCDs (unless your standalone dvd player can't read SVCDs) because of the quality loss. Same with tape, too much loss.
