I did compression using version 1.3. I used Xvid codek and 2-pass encoding. Everything was ok but I wanted do both passes with fast-recompress, but only first was done using this option , second with full processing mode. So it was much more slower. Why it happens?

Dark-Cracker
7th May 2002, 19:46
starnge perhaps the encode priority have fail and it for that i think the second pass take much time, i have check a the fast or full processing bug but i don't have found , to be sure just open edit the c:\jobpass1.vcf (first pass script) and c:\jobpass2.vcf (second pass script) with the notepad and verifie this :

VirtualDub.audio.SetMode(1); <=== is fast processing.

or :

VirtualDub.audio.SetMode(3); <=== is full processing.

Ps: do you have tested the Divx3 option ? or u don't use the SBC encoding ? do you have find bugs ?

roy
7th May 2002, 21:37
In jobpass1.vcf and jobpass2.vcf I have VirtualDub.audio.SetMode(1);, but the second encoding was done in full processing mode. I'm sure.

yes you are right i have found the bug i have do a mistake in the creation of the .vcf file for the Xvid second pass it use :

VirtualDub.audio.SetMode
instead of
VirtualDub.video.SetMode

the bug is fixed, download again Autodub v1.3

thank for finding this bug. Bye

Ps: post if this fixed version solve you problems.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you if the program is good or not (but I think it's great:D ), because I can't start it. When I click on Autodub.exe, an error message appears with no content...

I've winxp...

Or do I have to install all the codecs first???

thanks in advance

If you're getting the TABCTL32 error I found tabctl32.ocx here:

ftp://taurus.bmtmicro.net/vgaplanets/v4/tabctl32.ocx

you'll also need REGSEVER32: ftp://taurus.bmtmicro.net/vgaplanets/v4/regsvr32.exe

Put tabctl32.ocx in any directory then drag and drop it onto regsvr32.exe. If you move tabctl32.ocx to somewhere else on you H.D. you'll get an error unless you repeat the step above.

Autodub seems to work okay now.

@Kb_cruncher

Thank u all for testing my prog i hope in a few day the missing file problem will be solved.Stay Tuned. :)

This prog is great!

Couple of things I would like to see though.

Inbuilt bitrate calculator.

Better audio encode options like Lame --preset-alt standard or equivalent BeSweet command for 2 CD audio. 128 is too low.

May as well throw in a crop and resize function.

Ability to adjust some of the common Avisynth options without having to manually edit the .AVS file (This is why an inbuilt crop and resize tool would be neat). Decomb is another must ;)

That will do for now :)

oddball
10th May 2002, 14:07
Actually come to think of it. All that is needed is for DVD2AVI to be able to do most of thse (Which they are working on) and we won't need VirtualDub and probably not Autodub either. Still a neat tool for the time being though ;)

Dark-Cracker
10th May 2002, 17:24
for the memory option i think u don't have choose the external application path.

be sure that in the input tab u have click on the "change application path" button and u have select the right path for Nandub/virtualdub/Besweet.

Ps: if you don't select an audio file u can however encode the video.

test this and post if this have resolve your problem.

The program Works fine (perfect) to me encoding in XP Pro with DivX Pro 5.1 2-passes and VBR....Can I sujest a job list?.

Thanks for the program...I´m waiting the next version.

for those who have some problems with missing file , there is a new version of the VB runtime with all the ocx and dll file needed, u can download this version on the site web :

www.dark-angel.does.it
or the direct link :

http://membres.lycos.fr/darkangel47/setupvb6.zip

this will fix the "no message error".

Ps: if you have an "out of memory" error msg it because u have forget to select the external application path. (the button is in the input tab).

i hope this will help you to solve the last problems with these missing file.

autodub 1.2 is veri nice did about 10 backups using 3 pass Divx 4.12, Always hits target size
autodub 1.3 (i realy like design)
i don`t like audio max 128 kbps, maybe you can change that, especialy when backing up music titles i want high quality mp3 audio....
Also i have idea about codecs....
* make codecs internal to autodub like in famous Fair Use (no problem what user have which codec version installed)

tonite ill do some testing ...

Dark-Cracker
12th May 2002, 05:57
in the next release of autodub (v1.4) i will normaly add a detection of the length of the input source file , in order to add the possibility to have an auto-bitratecalculator i will increase too the max bitrate for the audio, and perhaps too add some genreical profil for 1cd or 2cd whatever the codec u choose.

normaly the release will come with an codecpack (made by eclipsedvd) with all the codec needed.

i am already working on a guide with the codec parameters explained.

Thank u for writting this post, and for testing my tool too.Bye

Hi and thanks for this great tool.

It works fine for me on my Windows 2000, but a friend of mine has a strange problem:

when he starts Autodub, a message box is appearing saying nothing
yes, nothing, there is only the white "X" on a red circle like in any other Error message, but the message itsself is missing....

The same happened after he installed the VB6 Runtime environment....

Any ideas?

almost forgot: HE is running WinME.

thx, Duplex

for the msg error with only a red cross i think it must install the dll+ocx pack in my site this will solve the problem.
(i have updated the dllpack in fact if you have this error it because u dont have the comctl32.ocx file on your computer).

test and say me if this have solve the problem.

for the lame error i think u have perhaps install the modified lame dll in the v1.3 update i will try to find why u have this error.

i think there is perhaps an error in the 128 kbts VBR lame comand line, try to encode your audio file with an ABR or CBR mode, i will check if the comand line line is correct,

but u can try to update your version of besweet with the v1.3RC this will perhaps solve your problems.

Hi,
I think your program is very useful an I like it to use. But one thing I think is wrong. I'm using win xp professional for encoding and with your "shutdown-option" after encoding my computer doesn`t "power-off".
Windows shows only the screen "it´s now safe to....." and I had to turn off the comuter manually using the power-switch.
But, if I press the "turn off computer" button in windows, the computer "powers off" correctly.
I hope you`ll fix this bug (or is this no bug?).

i always use Divx 4.12 (3 Pass) i set DESIRED SIZE to 695 mb and usualy that is what i get ....

but i can not set DESIRED SIZE in DivX 3 / 5 / XVID there is not field for that ...

can u explain that ....

p.s.

yes i can use some kind of bitrate calc bat that is not very precise
in gknot old/new version Divx 3,4,5.02 i always hit desired size.

@Dark- Cracker,

My wishlist :

1. XviD : 2-passes : Modulated + MV Hints
2. Xvid : Interlace support
3. Xvid : credit encoding
3. Save setting to .ini or registry, so we don't have to change
the common setting everytime.

hi,

- are u sure the bug with Modulated + MV Hints it solved ? if yes, i will add this support in the v1.4

- i am trying to add an avs creator with avisynth plugin support (desinterlace, ivtc ....)

- i will add the credit support.

- i have add some generic profil for 1cd/2cd but perhaps i will try to add the posibility to save the last parameters in a file (and later it will be esay to add a queud listwith these files).

stay tuned, my exams are finish in few days.

ps: sorry for my bad english.

hi,

a new version of autobub is out (version 1.4) :

www.dark-angel.does.it

Autodub v1.4 :

- Add the support for the Divx 5.0.2 / Divx Pro 5.0.2
- Now u must select an .D2V file for input source.
(.AVS file creator)
- Add the support for the Video Crop.
- Add the support for the Video Resize.
- Add the support of the "Tweak v1.3" Avisynth plugin
- Add desinterlace mode ( Decomb 3.8, GreedyHMA)
- Add support for the InverseTelecine (IVTC 2.2 , Decomb 3.8, GreedyHMA)
- Add smooth filter (light, normal, strong) for denoising the movie.
- Add support of Virtual Dub Plugins (Warpshap, Optimized 2D cleaner, Smarth Smoother HiQ)
(Based the Wilbert's Virtualdub filter script importer v1.3, these filters are usefull for anime filtering)
- Add support of the encredits (encode separately or with more compressible)
- Add generic profils for 1Cd or 2Cd.
- Now u can use HintME + (1st pass H.263 & 2nd pass Modulated) in Xvid panel
- Add a bitrate Calculator.
- Fixed some little bugs.

Plz test this version and report bugs or request at darkcracker@caramail.com

Ps: if someone could make some test for the end-credits (more compressible mode) :
try to encode a part of the movie and the start of the endcredits with these options :

- bilinear without endcredits
- bilinear + endcredits (in more compressible mode)

- neutral bicubic without endcredits
- neutral bicubic + endcredits (in more compressible mode)

- sharp bicubic without endcredits
- sharp bicubic + endcredits (in more compressible mode)

More Explanations :
-------------------

there are two mode for encode the end credits : (separately or more compressible)

in separately mode autodub encode the movie (XXX_Movie.avs) after the credits in quality mode 20% (XXX_Credits.avs) and after join the two part, in more compressible mode , autodub create a script like this :

Clip=mpeg2source.....
Clip1=Trim(Clip,0,5000) <= the movie part
Clip2=Trim(Clip,5001,0) <= the credit part

.....
# the movie part
Clip1=Bicubic(Clip1,640,480,0.33,0.33)
.....
#the credit part
# use level filter (more contrast and more brightness)
# a tempsmoother 6 and always a bilinear resize
Clip2=Level(Clip2,....)
Clip2=TemporalSmoother(Clip2,6)
Clip2=Bilinear(640,480)
...
Return Clip1+Clip2

==> encode this script in 1pass or 2pass

this way for encoding the endcredits is very use when u use the Xvid 2pass with endcredits (Quant 22) or with Divx3 (u have a better result with the endcredits at 200kbts by this way).

and more the endcredits more compressible mode is usefull for the little harddisk (no need join the 2 part)

---------

i have althought added the support for the virtualdub filters

- Warpsharp (30)
- optimised 2Dcleaner (8,2,2)
- Smarth Smoother HiQ (3,30,254)

i have used a part of the script made by Wilbert , i always to add the detection of the cpu in order to use the optimised filters (for AMD or for Intel).

Remember: These filters are very slow (work in RGB mode) but very usefull if you want to encode Anime.

PS: i am not an Avisynth guru :) if someone could see (and correct) my autodub generated scripts , this will be great.

Yes, I've found that problems too while using XviD,
but I also found if using DivX 5, even I've already
changed the BitRate setting, the log window still
say that it's 780 kbps. :(

Next is about the input,
could I have AVS input just like the old v1.3 ?

Thank you.

i don't think i will add the support of the .AVS file , u don't like my avs creator ? (support crop, resize, denoise, desinterlace, ivtc, like in Gknot, an even support some Vdub filter for anime SmartSmoother, WarpSharp, and Optimized 2D cleaner) i u have some suggestions for improve it , i heard u :) :)

Hi,
first of all, great work you did. But I have some suggestions to make for improvement:

1. Resizing:
could you include SimpleResize.dll in you choices ? It is faster and still very good quality.

2. Resizing sizes: sometimes the source video has a ratio different to 4:3 or 16:9 (DVB-Captures, SVCD Vids). Your resizing calculator calculates the wrong sizes. One of my Vids has 521 x 571 (after cropping) resized to 16:9 funnily it has the right size 512x384. But resizing it to 4:3 gives it the impossible value of 512 x 512. By the way could you make the size steps choosable (32 is a little too much for my taste 16 and 8 would be nice to choose).

3. Cropping the video (not size but length). As I spoke of DVB-Captures, I always have a useless part at the beginning and at the end of the movie. Could you insert two buttons in the resize preview dialog were I can set the begin and the end of the actual movie. AVS-Command is Trim (beginframe, endframe).

4. Jobs: could you include a joblist. Because usually I prepare some 5 jobs to create while I am at work.

5 Save default settings is missing. Just put them in the ini-File

I hope this is not too much to ask,

CU,
Andal

Hummm do u read my minds :)

>1
a lot of people have ask me for the simpleresize, this feature will be integrated in the v1.5 , just stay tuned :)

>2
the resizing methode it the same as in Gknot (thank to TheWEF who explain me how to calculate the ratio), but the number are locked (no manual settings), i will add the possibility to enter manually the number :)

>3
this feature are not allways used but, i will perhaps try to add it or just add the possibility to edit the .avs file

>4
in the future, autodub will add the possibilty to ripp dvd and to save the project in "project file (.rip)", and u will had the possibility to queued these file (this will be a joblist)

>5
the settings will be stored in the .rip file and i will store in the .ini file the last .rip file u have create.

>I hope this is not too much to ask,
no i am always happy to see my work is usefull (not always perfect :) but usefull :) :) )

@cjaar cjar

>1. Add a DVD2AVI tab which can fire DVD2avi
>application to convert vob to d2v files. This can be
>added with check application path also.

PERHAPS, but i will add in the futur release (not 1.5 but surely 1.6) the possibility to ripp the dvd with Vstrip (The BEST ripper) who create a working .d2v file.

> 2. In corp window, the picture quality(colour) looks
>very ODD....

sorry my english is very poor i don't understand this sentence.

> 3. Automatic detection of PAL/NTSC 4/3, 16/9 in video tab...

i could add the detection beetween PAL or NTSC but actually there is no way to detect with the .d2v file if it a 4/3 or 16/9 source, but i think when i will add the dvd ripper feature , could detect the aspect ratio.

> 4. No mp3 audio when checked for VBR
i have do again some test but it work fine for me , can someone try to make some test and post the result ?

> 5. Manual codec settings dont take effect
i think u don't have download the fixed version (it was the error bug 381) , this bug was solved a few time ago, download again the v1.4 here : www.dark-angel.does.it

> 6. Can the log/progress window be integrated into the
>main application window in o/p tab... u hv sufficient
>space in this tab :)

i think i will add in the in o/p tab the "external" log (like the besweet log , divx4/5 log analyse , and in the split log)

> 7. Cant use 3 pass for divx4, i get an error while
muxing audio and video... although 2 pass works
fine!!!

yes u are right , i have fixed this bug , download again "Autodub v 1.4".Now divx4-3pass Mode work fine :) :) :)

I must admit that I had (until now) no problems with autodub, but as I read this, I thought it would be usefull as well for me downloading the MSCOMCT2.zip ... I guess that was a mistake, 'cause now I get the following error-message:

"le fichier ne contient aucune information récupérable!"

hmm, but then autodub opens as expected and works just fine...

strange, but that's the problem with people always wanting/hunting for the latest fixes (or even not, as in my case)

>"le fichier ne contient aucune information récupérable!"

if u have this error message , it was surely because the external application path ar false (perhaps have u move the Autodub directory) to solve your problem , simply delete the Autodub.ini file in the directory root, this will solve your problem.

>how can I unregister the Mscomct2.ocx file? ... if that maybe solves >my problem.

if i check lumi masking, will it be used for both passes? would be nice to have the choice. same goes for quantizer mode because, afaik, modulated wont work if you use it in both passes.

btw, if you want to have autodub translated into german, give me ring.

just tried to load a .d2v file but it didn't work. instead a dialogbox appeared stating: 'can't open file' and then another 'invalid .d2v file' which is not possible because it works flawlessly in gknot and frameserved in virtual dub.

What about some "Dirty" trick to make avi support for .aac do u think it is doable ?

that would rock ....

Dark-Cracker
3rd July 2002, 09:17
it seems to me the "Dirty" way to use .ac3 or .aac file in .ogm file it to mux the audio file (with wav hearder) with .avi file then after save the final .avi file as .ogm file with oggmux, but there are still asyn for the .ac3 and for the .aac the nic' filter don't run.

PS: i have added MP3 bitrate from 56 at 384 kbps :) i have finish to add the AC3 re-encode (bitrate 56-384) i will finish to support of the .ogg and i will post a CRAP (because AC3 reencode and OGG will be in surround 2 channel mode, it try to detect the number of channel for using the dolby pro logic algo) beta just for testing these functions. just wait one or two day i will post the link , but remember it will be only a poor beta not an official release.

i have tested with the Nic's build (28-06-02) and Koepi's build (30-06-02) i there are no problemes.

PS: the 1.5 beta version are updated (fixed a bug for the resize, a bug for win98 user in the crop windows, and a split bug for .avi file with no sound, and a bug for the bivx )

PS2: there are in the package an "Autodubsplit.exe" file ,who can split at 10 MB or 20 MB or 30 MB it used to make some test on the split function if u want make some test, simply encode a part of the movie (around 50 MB) and use 0,1 or 2 audio stream and make a split at the wanted size (10 or 20 ro 30 MB) and post the result for the final filesize.

just to let you know: I've another program that I liked to install but this error message poped up during installation...

"error: RPC.STUB incompatible, install will now terminate"

I fixed it...

This appears to be a common problem caused by Microsoft releasing a new dll that is not compatible with Win98. Some developers have made an installer which includes this dll, thereby destroying your system. Here is a fix:

Download: http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/Patch/1.0/WIN98/EN-US/mcrepair.EXE

Then run it, and when it prompts you to overwrite newer files, make sure you click YES for each file (not "No" or "No to all"). This will replace all of the 3.50 DLLs from XP with older versions compatible with Windows 98 (2.40.4515).

This patch works for Win98 users.

after installing this patch I managed to install my other application and - a miracle - autodub as well made no complainings when I tried to open it.

I hope this is a usefull hint for others.

thanks and cheers

One think which would be reqlly nice is the SimpleResize filter also,
much faster than bicubic, and nice results (input width limited to
factors of 4 though).

field deinterlace would be nice for the deinterlace options, if that cant be implemented, what is a good one to use?

Dark-Cracker
13th September 2002, 11:24
hi,

but u can use Decomb who give u some good result (it use fielddeinterlace) , deinterlaceQ was very speed and TomsMoComp was very good for the action movies (because it use motion compensation) i have use the CPU=0 (tomsmocomp(1,0,1) ).

in the final 1.6 version i will add blend=false for the decomb filter (the result will be more sharp) and put the cpu detection at 15 for tomsmocomb. just wait the final relase to have the better deinterlace settings :)

PS: i think i will perhaps remove the "VerticalReduce" filter.

PS2: i put the DUP filter at the end of the script do u think if i put this filter after the resize and before the smotth filter this will give a better result ? (i hope neuron2 will read this post).

PS3: if someone are interested to writte a guide or a documentation in any languague on autodub it can feel free :) i will be happy to host your creations :)

hi,

i think i will show in the titile bar the quality indice and the compressibility test result because it these 2 figures are on a different tab.

for the compressibility test 5% :

Divx3 : beetween 50-70 %
Divx4 : beetween 50-70 %

Divx5 : beetween 40-70 % (40-50 with b frame and 50-60 without b-frame).
Xvid : beetween 40-70 %

a percentage higher than 70% --> higher the resolution
a percentage between 50% and 70% --> OK
a percentage lower than 50% --> lower the resolution

or of course increase or decrease the desired final file size.

i think the xvid compressibility test was very close to the correct result, if someone could make some test it will be great :)

hi,

the error "le fichier ne contient aucune information recuperable !"
(in english : "can't find informations in the file") it's because
i have forget my autodub.ini file in the package and the path of the applications are not the same on your computer (sorry i was tired when i have made the archive :) )

simply delete the autodub.ini file and start again autodub, this will solve your problems . once it will be started it will autodetect the path for the virtudaub,nandub and besweet path, simply click on "save" and "close" to update the application path in the autodub.ini file.

Until now, I did encodes only with Vidomi and was pretty sattisfied. Then I tried AutoDub and was delighted at first. I have Celeron@900 and got 10-12 fps with Vidomi (DivX5.02 - 2pass, YV12, sound encoded at same time). With AutoDub I only get 4 - 5,5 FPS + sound encode.
It took 22h to encode a movie. Is there a way to solve this?

P.S. I did some tests on small clips and it looks it`s the same speed with or without filters checked.

very nice guide :)
i am actualy working on a new version of my siteweb once il will update my homepage, i will add a link to your guide. thank u again
PS: perhaps a little explination on the filters will be great :)

@Koke
first celeron are not very opitized for the compression after u can't compare virtualdub (used in autodub) and vidomy (who use a part of mpeg2avi the most quick compresser) after vidomi use directely the .vob file else virtualdub use avisynth & plugin to load the frameserver (.d2v) it often for this u not have the same speed, and of course not the same quality :) if u want speed use mpeg2avi with a gui else if u want quality use virtualdub. to increase the speed under autodub check in the first tab the process priority, after use a bilinear resize (fast but a bit blur) and don't use filters (this slowdown the encoding process).

Ps: i have a PIII 1Ghz under virtualdub i got 14-15fps with mpeg2avi i got 17fps, but not the same visual quality :)

hi,

i often record movies or series from tv with my vidac card (www.vidac.de) to mpeg2. i´ve tried vidomi which is a nice simple tool but the deinterlace function isn´t very good there.
the good thing in vidomi is that it can encode parts of a movie and that means that i can cut out advertisements. vidomi cuts also the sound out and everything i ok.
the problem here is deinterlacing because it´s mess in vidomi therefore i wanted to encode in vdub. the cutting in vdub takes very long ....

sorry for the long stories.... :-)

now my question: is there a possibility to encode parts in autodub? could autodub not take over the jobs in vdub?

i hope you can help me

I love your program man ...good job. I would love it if you could add some other options.....

I usually encode my audio with mp3pro because I can make the final size very small without much quality loss. so...

* The choice to add my own audio from audio (just general muxing) menu without having besweet encode it and all that ( I do it myself but would like autodub to add it to the encode) Ie select mp3 format from open audio stream box/path

Also when I would go into the xvid manual settings for the strength I would set it to 50 percent and when I go back into there it's changed back again to 30 percent.

* Save my own profile settings

* I would like to decide the size or range of the movie so I can cut out any beginning and end (credits etc) that I don't want. Ie trim/cut etc.

I would like to choose my own temp folders(which I can) and my own destination folder which for some reason it won't let me. I think it's because I'm a little new to this proggie but it still rocks.

alx

Hi dark, hope you can read this........i am just wondering if you continue with your project.

The "starting credits" option that i mentioned in my early post, was about the frames between 0 and the end of the starting credits of the movie......all the xvid versions has this option to set.....

I noticed that AutoDub worked fine with the last official Koepi build (04/10).....after that, when i tried to encode something , virtualdub crashes......no matter which version i use (NIC´s, Koepi´s, Umaniac´s)

Anyway, thanks for your time and wonderful program.

It seems that the more HQ and high-res the encode is, the more effective chroma ME becomes (check out my "benchmark" thread in HDTV section). But when quantizer value is increased, the difference becomes neligible again :-(

@Teegedeck: please confirm that the videostream remains fully MPEG4 ISO compatible. If it is, then maybe we can have chroma ME enabled by default for ME=6. The speed hit isnt that big.

The Standalone DVD&DIVX player can only read MPEG-4 ISO compatible AVI's ( Simple Profile, + B-Frames).

And it read XviD encoded with Chroma=On very well.

SO it suggest that the videostream remains fully MPEG-4 ISO compatible.

excellent software. One thing that would really be great is the addition of a more modular mp3 encoding system perhaps apart from besweet. I would love the program to be able to link to a LAME exe file and be able to send it commandline commands. I like to dabble with alpha versions of LAME and to use custom commandlines that people post on hydrogenaudio. Another variation to this would be to open up a mp3 directly without autodub even touching audio encoding and to mux that directly to the final avi. Even though I could do this very easily with avi_mux I just think one less step would be useful.

I can't wait till we have straight yv12 encoding all the way with this software.

Keep up the great work!

Am I wrong or it doesn't support avisynth 2.5 ? When i load d2v file it says : error with avisynth script.
If it isn't supported it'd be really nice to see it available.

It would be great if this software could also open avi files!
Do you think it would in futur?
Maybe there is already a way to do this, but I don't know how!?

Anyway I have a subscribsion to digital satellite tv and capture great recent movies in avi HQ and would like to be able to try use this software with those files!

Still pretty new (a day old? bah, that's like a lifetime in the world of opensource) is the VHQ option found in the Feb 12 build from Umaniac. It must be hard dealing with all the new updates.

This looks like a great program, but it won't let me change the input resolution. I'm converting a svcd and it says it is 480x480 when in reality it is 720x480. Gordon knot lets you select the PAL/NTSC and aspect ratio of the input and for that I shall continue to use it untill you have solved this problem. keep up the good work.

@OBcecado

Autodub support avisynth 2.5 as virtual dub support it..., just change mpeg2dec with mpeg2dec3, and change the varius supported filter. Always giving the old name to new dll. :p

@birdy
Well, will be a cool features. :cool:

@Mango Madness
No, i tried, but vdub just crash. No problem, get sticky with nic' or koepi' build. :rolleyes:

@kairos

I haven't tryed a svcd to divx conversion, but have you tryed the 1:1 rapport ( and put the exact dimension). Btw a svcd isn't 480*576 ?

hi,

i correct a little mistake , the correct link is :

http://www.eclipsedvd.firstream.net/autodub/Autodub1.7_beta3.zip

(copy and paste was not always a good friend :) )

@OBcecado
i will wait all the filter were converted for avisynth2.5 to completely add the yv12 support. actually simply change vdub by vdubmod and the filters and u could edit the script before start to encode.

@birdy
i will try to add this feature :) a lot of people have asked for it , actualy u could open a .d2v file and once u have acces to the script editor change mpeg2sourc(...) by avisource(...).killaudio()
but u need to calc the bitrate manually and change by variating the desired file size. else wait i will add this feature.
(i will add a lowbitrate matrix made by trbarry i hope this will give u good result for tv encode)

@Mango Madness
i will add support of the koepi build 14-02-03 (with VHQ) as soon as possible. stay tuned.

@kairos
hum have try to switch beetween PAL/NTSC, ratio 1:1 allow u to put manual values . could u send a sample of your svcd (around 1Mo) to try to fix this bug ?

@majerle
very good answer :) i am not always on this thread to check the msg, and feel free to answer questions if i take time to answer.

yes i have correct my mistake in the url (wrong copy and paste :) )

to use custom matrix simply go in advanced settings for the xvid and instead of using H263 or MPEG, select MPEG Custom and this will enable the combo with the custom matrix (i have added 9 matrix).
if u want to add a new matrix edit the matrix.ini file , and increase the total number of matrix in the file and autodub will automaticly add it in the combo.

Still no AVI file import option :(
I was hoping for this option in the next release! But I guess we still have to wait.

@Dark-Cracker,
In one of your posts you explained how to open an avi, but it was not clear to me! Can you (or anyone who knows) explain this more clearly?
Should after opening a d2v file edit the avs file created or there is another script that should be edited?!!

Hmm..just tried this latest beta of yours and when in the final tab trying to edit my Avs -script and saving it (so far so good) but when starting encoding gives me some french error and closes the whole program. All I did was that I added:

LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\DustV5.dll")

and used

GoldDust()

And this script worked fine when I tried it with AVS2AVI both DivX 3.11 and Xvid 170302.

So why doesn't your software like Steadys Dust-filter or is it not allowed to add other filters to avs-script?

To the author of Autodub XP:

Is it possible to include a 'CUSTOM LAME COMMAND' in the Audio encoding tab?
Because I'm using the follow commandline for encoding the ac3 sound into mp3:

"BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "E:\file.ac3" -output "E:\file.mp3" ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -c normal -L -3db ) -ota( -hybridgain ) -lame( --r3mix )

So I can just put this 'raw' line into Autodub XP...
Can be very useful if you use f.e. latest (beta) BeSweet compiles that support new switches or something.

Would very appreciated :)

BTW your program rocks! Great results!

1st March 2003, 01:06
hi,

it seems to me -z1 and -b1 are useless because there are not supported in besweet (it for displaying information about stream).
i think the best solution is to create an audio profil : select the advanced audio panel and enable the switches : hybridgain, dynamic compression, and LFE to LR 3db, and --r3mix, and save this audio profil , next time u want to encode simply select your audio file and open your audio profil.

i think added the possibility to writte is hown commandline requiered too much erorcheck to work.

still didn't help, even when i manually create an autodub.ini file it still doesn't work. THe program will open but without the application window and crashes with the runtime error.

EDIT: upon reinstallation the program starts right, now we'll see if it encodes right.

EDIT#2: with everything at default, besweet starts up and does it's thing (preset medium) but right when that happens and virtualdub tries to run, autodub throws and runtime 5 error invalid call or procedure. Once the program is exitted and you try to open it, you get runtime error 53. So it's like one crash leads to another crash.

I found some little bug that's still in 1.7 final :)
Under the 'Video' tab when you select 1:1 for Aspect Ratio and you put manually a resolution, after you've done cropping, for some reason the resolution changes back to some standard res.
For example; when you put 640*272 and you crop, the res. chnages back to 640*352.
So it seems that Autodub XP handles 'standardly' only 1.85:1 formats and not 2.35:1...

Can this be fixed?

I found a bug some time ago, it still exists in 1.7 final:
Under the 'Video' tab when you select 1:1 for Aspect Ratio and you try to change a resolution (width), as example 720->640, immediately after deleting 72 (in order to put in 64, 0 remains) the program exits with something like "...division by zero..." !
It's very annoying, as you will loose all settings.

I think, resizing procedure needs improvement, it's not convenient at all. When cropping you should see aspect ratio error.
Try to imitate resizing routine used in GKnot.

When exiting program, manually or due to error, why the settings are not saved ?

Hopefully this can be fixed.

Overall, nice program with great potential,
keep up good work !

hi,

for the resize yes a lot of people have ask me to see the aspect error but the aspect error change when u resize. and if u have a 0% aspect error in 720*XXX after the crop but if u change the resize to 640*XXX the aspect error will change too . but i will find a way to put all the important informations in 1 window :)

>When exiting program, manually or due to error, why the settings are not saved ?

1. AutoDub support AviSynth 2.50 ?
2. Plan for using Cyrius's Ogmuxer ?

@Dark-Cracker

Isn't a faul of your program or virtual dub ( 1.4.x or 1.5.x) it's a BUG IN XVID with p4 !

just uncheck sse2 optimization and all goes good !

BTW : i agree with ookzDVD, Cyrius ogmuxer is a great muxer, better (imho) than Koepy's one. It don't use direct show filters.

Thanks again

Andres

Hmm.. a little bug. When I want to add couple of videos to job-list so that I dont wanna make any changes to filters, crop or resizing values. It works great for the first one..but when I add the second file (only new d2v-file opened) it somehow changed the resolution from 480x368 to 480x256 even when I had correct resize value in resize-tab and I even tried to crop the second file again and made new resize with 4:3.
Of course it is easy to change in avs-edit, but this is little bit annoying. Thanks to the prewiev-window I noticed the wrog AR before encoding. But if I wanna convert whole TV-serie with 12 episodes I dont wanna change the hight manuall to every file. All other filter-settings remained correctly.

Hmm..something went horrible wrong..My goal was to make 143Mb Xvid file with your 1CD profile (I only untick 'use alternative scaling')and I didn't do audio since I had it already on my HD and goal was to mux it later so that the total file size would be 175mb.

But the Xvid file that was produced was 375Mb!! bits/pixel indicated that all were correct when I started the project.

hi,

@Mango Madness
happy to heard it work now fine :) strange because i always convert the path in dos path but some time it failed on some space path i will try to locate and erradicate this bug :)

@ookzDVD
i mus add support for ogmuxer but i have a problem with .omx file (used to aautomatic command line) but it will be added soon :)

@valky
yes this bug have been reported this day by another people, and it will be fixed :)
for your oversized file try to make a compressibility test, value must be beetween 60% and 80% under 50% your file will be oversize and over 100% your file will be downsize.
if your movie was very hard to compress try to use lower resoltion , a bilinear resize filter and perhaps try the CutOFF matrix in the xvid panel (give very good result for a lower size) disable chroma and GMC and enable VHQ 1 u will obtain a filesize lower.

PS: i will try to made some external profils (generical) for the xvid advanced settings.

Bye.

Actually I already did my encoding with all your settings. Bilinear, low-resolution (480x368), chroma and gmc disabled, vhq 1 enabled..That's why I was so confused :)

So I thought it had to be a bug, cause the filesize was so obviously wrong 143mb-->345mb

whitch options do u use for the mp3 ? (cbr,abr,vbr? which bitrate?)
could u try to post the c:\autodub_stream.log file , it will show why u don't have your .mp3 file (it perhaps u have a space in the path)

@pixolex

Your mp3 must be in "D:\MEMENTO" , where are ac3 files, should be named "stream1.mp3" ...

"-output D:\MEMENTO\Stream1.mp3 "

I've got ver.1.7 of AutoDub. I have successfully converted test avi with Autodub. But "video preview" doesn't work. After pressing "video preview" button Windows media player is opened. I can see setting up resize filter. But player screen is black and movie doesn't start as usual. I can scroll movie but I still see black screen. No error message appears. It looks like some problem with AviSynth.
Can you give mi any tip?
I have installed W2k.
Thank you for your reply.
You do good work :o)

@Jason_dinAlt

What's version of avisynth ? 2.07 or more :cool: ?

Get sticky with 2.07 or change some dll in avsfile folder to use 2.5 (mpeg2dec.dll first of all).

EDIT : to view your version of avisynth open in vdub a script with a single command like:

Version()

@Dark-Cracker

please update your save routine if you change something in the Video Tab it isnt saved anymore in the [nameofd2v]_Movie.avs same if you change the file by hand its overwritten by the values in the Video Tab and other Tabs as example i wanted to use yV12InterlacedSelectTopFields() but it allways was overwritten by None in the changed [nameofd2v]_Movie.avs :( @ encoding start

Settings Changed = Save Them in the AVS
AVS Changed by Hand = Dont overwrite them with the Programm Settings @ encoding start

this makes it more dynamic for not so beginners :)

Easiest way to achive the 2 is dont save a new file if Start is pressed :P

humm i not much time but perhaps the possibility to include wmv 9 in .avi container will motivate me and perhaps a autowm9 will be created :)

Ps: Nic encoder work well ?

I used divx codec 5.03...

it would be fine to have a option to and a mp3 file already encoded ;)...

The re-calculation enters with the size of the audio file?

there are any guide to explain all the options and filters of autodub, some where in the net :)
