Can't Copy to hard drive in XP?

Here is a strange one. I have several movies I encoded with DVD2SVCD and CCE, I wanted to copy one of these.

XP would not allow the copy of the mpg from the CD to my hard drive.

I have some that it will, my earlier encodes. I get an illegal dos command error and it locks up the machine until I manually eject the CD from the drive. I successfully copied the mpg by taking the CD to my wife's Win 98 machine. I then transferred the file over our local network to my XP box and burned a copy.

Any ideas on this one?

Some CDs/DVDs can handle errors better than others. I've had CDs that I haven't been able to copy to my hard drive using my cd burner, but using my DVD drive it works without problem. This leads me to believe that my DVD drive can handle errors better than my cd burner.

Could this be it perhaps?
