Can't copy dvd to hdd, but I can play it

I can't copy dvd to hdd. No matter what programm to rip I uss. Ripping stops at 4th vob. No matter I copy the whole film or only 4th vob. It stops always at the same place. I have changed my dvd dirive from LG to BTC, I have the same problem in the samme place under Windows 98SE and Windows XP. I have changed cabel from dvd drive to motherboard, I have upgraded my bios to the newest, but still the same.

I have AMD Xp 1600+, Abit KG7RAID.

Can anyone help me, please?

Post me the error dvd decrypter throws up.

You should have tried cleaning the DVD first before doing all that other stuff.

Sorry so late, but I have bought new hdd, maxtor 80 gb, before I had Barracuda IV, and I vave installed new copy of system.


But this doeasn't solve my problem, I still can't rip dvd and I got the same error.

Have you tried clicking 'retry' a few times? Look at the sector the error is at...does it change? If retry doesnt make the sector number go up, click 'ignore'.

When I click Retry scetor number doesn't change, and it doesn't help either. When I click ignore I got so many errors, it takes 2 houres and I got about 50 erros but there was almost no progress so I stoped the process.

Now I have new dvd LG x16, but still the same, I can't copy dvd to disc. This time it stops at 3rd vob. I have tried at Windows XP and Win 98. It stops coping at the same place, not the same sector bur very close.

Can anyone really help me?

Disc is probably dead. Give up :)

Examine the disc for scratches. If you have some, use a small amount of toothpaste and a soft cloth to remove them. Don't press real hard, just a soft, gentle, buff.
