In Doom's nandub guide, he said the following for the bitrate calculator:
"First enter the CD size and the number of CDs. When you create a CBR audio file you can now enter the bitrate you're planning to use. If you want to create VBR audio you must create the mp3 file first, then load it into Nandub (Audio - (VBR) MP3 Audio), then check Get data from audio source. Finally press the calculate button and write down the value it gives you."
What is a CBR audio file and how do I create it? What setting should I use with the audio then (direct stream copy/full processing mode, etc...)?

Hi-
CBR=Constant Bit Rate. Like your music mp3s (128, 160, 192 etc). You make them with an audio program such as BeSweet (Guide in Guides section of this site, and software in the Download section), or HeadAC3he (it's so easy it doesn't need a guide, and the software is in the same place).
Make your mp3 soundtrack in advance, and then when you're setting up Nandub, enter it in the Audio portion with Direct Stream and (VBR)MP3 Audio.
However, I might suggest using Gordian Knot for at least some of the basic stuff like cropping-resizing and figuring bit rate while allowing for audio size and overhead.

I will totally have to disagree with manono...
CBR= Current buffalo Rinds, and refers to the amount of concentration of blood in bufflo rinds that humans can digest.
Also gordian knot stinks, just use 349Kbps for all your movies and no matter what length or size audio it will always come out to whatever you want it to..trust me
Manono..you smell like BUFFALO!!

Dont listen to Poopity poop , However Manano is correct here are a few additions!! SORRY MANANO
:P
Okay VBR= Variable Bit Rate
ABR = Average Bit Rate
CBR = Constant Bit Rate
Normally ABR is the best and vbr second with CBR coming in last.
What i do is i Use Headache to convert from AC3 (what u extracted using Smartripper) to MP3 i use ABR and for 1 CD i use 145 k for 2 i use 200k
349 is WAY WAY WAY too high a bit rate for one cd and possibly for 2
if you have any mp3s music ull know that 128 is acceptable so a bit better like 145 -192 is pretty nice
once u have the mp3 click on the audio tab and click vbr mp3 (does not matter here if you have VBR or ABR or CBR nandub likes em all) then load it up and set the interleave settings like in the guide
it should be set to direct stream copy
Hope this helps if you want more info PM me

Hey Zeke-
Dont listen to either of these wierd people
How dare you associate me with poopity poop! All you did was repeat my post using a lot more words to do it. You hurt my feelings.
Everyone knows that poop is a liar and a dangerous psychopath, but I'm as normal as they come.
I am not a weirdo, not a weirdo, not a, not, not...
***falls down twitching and foaming at the mouth***
Normally ABR is the best and vbr second with CBR coming in last.
Got any empirical consensuses to back up that rather bold claim with?

Sorry Manono you are right only poopity poop is wierd
As for empirical evidence Yes and no my evidence is my ears but I DO know that who ever u talk to ABR and VBR are both better than CBR
The reason i say ABR is better than VBR is that in lame etc the ABR alt presets are highly tuned and so come out better than the VBR presets
EZEKIEL
And the presets are something entirely else, what you are saying is that in the narrow context of alt presets using Lame ABR is better, now that's a long way from ABR at all cases being the best.

True but in this case the only time ive ever used ABR or VBR is for movies encoded using LAME or headache or besweet so my point still stands
EZEKIEL
Have u ever stuck a ferret down your pants?? :P

--cbr is a private-case of abr which is a private-case of vbr.
--vbr has less constraints than abr that has less contraints than cbr.
--VBR is the "most" flexible, CBR isn't flexible, ABR is stuck in the middle.
-lame do has fine-tuned VBR alt-presets. (--alt-preset standard, for instance).
The authority has spoken.
