I am trying to follow robshots method. ALso read the Doom9s advanced CCE guide. In all guides (as well as the official CCE guide on the Cinema Craft site) they have said that in the advanced settings screen when the quantization scale graph is displayed the background is green, grey (bitches as per Rob ;) and red.

I am encoding the movie Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. The question I had was when I display the Q.Scale graph I see some areas where the background is black!! Is this suppose to happen? I followed the guide and generated a .vaf file using One pass VBR method. Now I am at the 2nd pass when I see these black areas. Are they supposed to be bad? Coz none of the guides mention about them.

Hi there.

I had the same problem as you. When looking through his guide I couldn`t see the gray or green areas.It was not until I printed it out that I could see these colours.

The solution was to turn the contrast and brightness right up on my monitor, then I could see them.

Try that it may just be a simple thing like that.

@406lx

I can see the grey and green areas very clearly. I checked again yesterday. But it is some black areas which I can see along with the grey and green ones (I dont have any red areas as well). I just wanted to know what these areas represent (good/bad image quality)
