Hello there,

I am going to report to all of you the facts that I am dealing with the last month and hope that someone will share its thoughts and progress the whole thing to what must be a welcome resolution.

I am running CCE in a win2k enviroment part of a multi boot 3 partition 40gb disk. Nothing is installed but vfapi codec, CCE. The partition is 2gb with 600mb free space.

The vob files are on the 1st and 2nd partition (partitioned by fdisk).
All partitions are FAT32.

I installed CCE 264 and done Swordfish, The Art of War, One pass VBR, both at the same month and without a problem. The Encoding through VFAPI worked like a charm. It finished both movies, didnt had any problems with Maestro or Scenarist.

From that moment a month passed and the problems begun.
I tried to do Score and the computer crashed after encoding 5000 - 11000 frames, each time to different frame no, the main number of crashes around 7500 frames.

I worked on the problem quite a lot. I fed d2v to Tmpeg but it crashed at 3000 frames. I tried even Panasonic from flask it crashed too.

It seems that I could not do Score, so I gave up. Thought that it was misencoded by the authoring house in a way.

A couple of weeks later I tried Shrek for a day. It gave me the same crashing on all 3 encoders for a Friday. BUT on Monday morning it worked fine and encoded the same d2v twice in different bitrates.

Today I have the same problems from Jurrasic Park III.

I thing that there must be somthing wrong with my computer and not CCE. I thing that somehow VFAPI or d2v projects are getting screwed up in proccess. Perhaps its my memory (256K), disk? or something.

Has ne1 has any similar problem and if so how it was solved.

Why do you use FAT32 with Win2k?

I'm not sure if this may help to solve the problem, and I haven't had one as you describe, but I think that a good try it would be to switch to NTFS!

A work area of 2GB that you use, seems to be a little downsized. Try with an NTFS partition of 5-7GB of free space.

i find that if cce freezes up then the only solution is to start from scratch, rerip and defrag your drive as the error was probably in the vob file.
Im talking from experience i still only get about 1 in 3 sucessfull svcds, im looking at a 97% 5 pass encode frozen at the moment!!
What would suggest you do is rip the dvd, then defrag your druive then convert.
