Does not work ?

The VFAPI codec is installed, the ReadAVS codec is installed so VFAPI can read/convert Avisynth scripts. The corresponding Vfapi generated "Avi" loads into CCE 2.62 fine.

Everything is set up in CCE options and encode button pressed. The "encode" begins, with the progress bar showing things are happening.

The end result though, is that the resultant encoded mpv file consists of nothing but the first frame from the original avi file.

To check that the Vfapi generated avi is frameserving, playing it back in windows media player shows that it is indeed "serving". So why does CCE 2.62 only encode a sequence consisting of the first frame from the original avi, or just a long sequence of black ?

if it plays in media player , all is well

what is likely the problem (scared me once) is sometimes powerdvd (may happen with other mpeg2 players) get stuck on the first frame on mpv's with no audio. the time advances but the picture doesnt. mux it with some sound and it should be ok or for a quick test load the mpv with dvd2avi (you may have to rename the extenstion to .mpg) and move the slider to check the frames there

Hmm, not quite sure you understood what I meant.

The final encoded file does not play back at all in any player, except for the first frame, or just being totally black..muxed or not

However, the false avi, the VFAPI wrapped Avisynth script, does play in windows media player, which indicates VFAPI is doing its job as a frame server.

Its further obvious something is strange when you watch the CCE progres bar. Normally, for encodes that work, the bitrate shown above the bar does tend to vary a little, depending on your settings and the material. In this case, the bitrate does not change and bears no resemblance to the settings you choose (eg VBR )

i understood ya.. just thought it sounded similar to a problem i had...

well.. i tried vfapi converter (i use cce 2.5 so never have a need for it) and guess what.. black screen.. i got nice speeds on cce BTW.. but i guess encoding black isnt too much of a task.. so i started messing with things.. i turned of proxy in virtualdub and a few other things.. no luck.. then it occured to me that maybe it was a problem with an avi overlay.. so i uninstalled vobsub (dvobsub on the fly subtitler) and viola.. no more black screen... yay!

so perhaps thats the problem.. if not.. im outta ideas ;)

Since I am not ripping from a DVD, that solution would not seem to apply. However, the following did seem to cure the problem....unistalling DVD2SVCD, and so far, not reinstalling it.

VFAPI/Avisynth now work properly in conjuction with CCE... hmmm
