Hi guys!

I'd like to encode a movie with 2 audio streams. As most of y'all know, a window pops up, telling me that the bitrate is too high and some players might not be able to play the SVCD.
My question is: What do these players do if they can't read them? Do they play a part of the movie, will they screw up at a certain time,...?
I hope this question hasn't been answered before, since I didn't found anything about it.
Another question: Will every SVCD-capable DVD-Player play SVCDs which show 800 MB on a 700 MB disc?

Thanx for helping

Video is not computer data and does not need to use the error correction that data does. All video produced discs(VCD/SVCD) use this method. That is why the discs say 700mb or 80 minute. 80 minutes of audio(treated the same as video) is more then 700mb. In our case the 80 minutes is not audio so we actually get less time, but the meaning is the same. All players that are compliant with Compact disc standards will read the discs no problem.
Only time you tend to run into differences in players is how well they played overburned CD's, but this is out of spec so it shouldn't be a surpise that different players handle overburned discs better then others.

Mostly when I have my bitrates too high I first start getting bad audio and if it is way too high the video becomes choppy as well. Some players can handle far above the SVCD standard so you may not have any problems at all with higher then normal bitrates. The bad part is some players cannot play standard SVCD bitrates and need to have them reduced. Best way is to test different settings on a CDRW disc using CBR enconding. This way you don't have to worry what the video bitrate is doing since it's always at it's highest.
Next best thing is see what others have used by checking out the DVD player guide at www.vcdhelp.com make sure to read the coments on your player.
