I find creating of animated buttons to be an interesting issue.
Threre so much talk about dvd features we all love, but there is no guide on the subject.
A little bit strange isn't?

doom9 has something in his guide, so just read it.
Otherwise animated menues isn't nothing else than illusions. All the elements are composed together to a video stream. Let put it on this way if you wanna have your company logo on the top of the video you may have 2 choises. 1: use a genlock to key the logo bitmap over the video or use a nle editing software to make the same thing. Both resulting a finished video.
If you make buttons over a moving background or animated (video on a button) buttons over a still or video it is the same as keying 2 elements together to get only 1 final one. Did you hear abouth picture in picture. To make a motion button menu you use this technick to make it. Just import the background picture or video into the editor. Make as many superimpose track as many buttons you gonna have. Scale all these track to the button size , make the fill color transparent, export your movie as a mpeg2 or what ever your system is using.
We don't use the authoring software to compose these things together. (Some progs. like Roxio VP5 can do it for you)We use a finished video as a background video in the menu editor. The rest is the same as with stills. You import the subs for hilit picture and make action settings.

Sonic DVDit doesn't do animated buttons or menues. It just make a miniatur of the link element and compose it on the top of the background. It has nothing to do with design. It is an easy and quick and dirty menu creation.

hello
yes sonic dvd it make durty menu now I have find a method to make a nice menu with after effect I prepare the menu before and after I import the video to the track editor and my subpicture and all as very nice
I three questions
1 when you create an animate menu with scenarist you must loop back the video for an infinity time but amways when he rebegin to play the menu I show this it's not very nice do you now a way to change this
2 the sound track must be egal to the video duration ?
3 how work the effect fade..... and for what you use it ?
thanks

I hope you understand my english

If you take a look of the moving backgrounds of DVDs you can see that they have a few sec. pause before the loop begins again. It isn't a pause actually but just a still picture in the movie . Like freezing the last frame which is the same as the first frame like in Shreek. Others are using an effect to cover the jumping at the beginning of the loop like in Perfect storm.
The sound track must have the same length as video.
I never used an effect in the authoring software. Should I use some kind of effects than I make it in the video editor before exporting it to mpeg2.
