i tried d2s using all default settings, to do remember the titans, everything went fine, but, i only got one cd image. the movie is like 114 minutes long, but i only got just under 80. i have tried both vstrip and smart ripper to do this. both times, same result. thanks in advance for the help. and by the way, smart ripper says there are 33 chapters in the angle, as you can see in the log, only 21 were created. oh, here is my log:

Play the VOB files in a Software DVD player to see if everything has been ripped.

Play the Encoded_Video_CCE_NTSC.mpv file to see if all the video is there.

Play the mpg files to see if everything is there.

You need to work at narrowing down what point the video went missing.

You might want to try the internal routines. Sometimes I have had those work for me when vstrip wont work.

if, by internal routines, you mean let dvd2svcd do the rip automatically, thats one of the things i tried. when i said " i tried vstrip" i did not mean as a standalone. if this is not what you mean, then this is an option i am unfamiliar with. i thought that internal routine referred to the dvd2svcd plug-in vstrip

hmm, here is something very strange, only 4 of the 6 vobs on the disc show up in the folder i saved all my stuff to, even though the vstrip.lst states all six were ripped. why would it go and do something like that? and what can i do about it? i know i will have to reencode, but how do i know that the same scenario will not repeat itself? i mean, i can rip the vobs manually, and point d2s toward them, or the ifo, anyway, but how do i know the same sh*t wont happen?

okay, i found the problem, but not the reason...in my folder where i saved all this crap (e:\remember the titans) there are only 4 vobs out of six. smart ripper says there are 6 vobs. the vstrip.lst says there are six vobs. BUT, in dvd2svcd.log under the dvd2avi subroutine command line, it says this:

Executing DVD2AVI.
Executing DVD2AVI. Commandline:
"e:\dvd conversion\DVD2SVCD\DVD2AVI\DVD2AVI.exe" -IA=1 -CS=2 -YR=1 -EXIT -OF=[E:\remember the titans\DVD2AVI_Project_file] -IF=[E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_1.vob,E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_2.vob,E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_3.vob,E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_4.vob]
Analyzing DVD2AVI Project file
Force Film activated!
Framerate: 23976
DVD2AVI processing done.

how many vobs do you see? i see 4. yet here is the line from vstrip sub-routine:

- vStrip
--------------------------------------------------------
Preparing vobfiles to be ripped:
- G:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.vob
- G:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_2.vob
- G:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_3.vob
- G:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_4.vob
- G:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_5.vob
- G:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_6.vob

i see six vobs. yet, *5.vob and *6.vob are left out in the cold cold realm of cybernetic oblivion. where did they go?

is this a known buggie? oh, well, i will try again. any suggestions will be followed to the letter and appreciated. thanks. falcor

HEY!!!!! if i go to the dvd2avi project file and edit to add the two missing vobs (theyre not listed there either) and manually rip just those two and add them to my default folder, and run craash recovery, whaddya think will happen? (probably some damn check-sum error or some other invalid this or that) whaddya think mark?

sh*t i think i am starting to understand this stuff:D

Hi falcor,

wow today there quite some people talking to themselves - must be the weather, I guess. :D

Just kidding - back to your problem:

What Jason28 wanted to point out is - go to the "DVD Rip" tab, select the "Activate DVD ripping" option and then tick the "Use Internal routines" option instead of the "Use vStrip" option. That's what we call the "Internal routines" in here. ;)

And with the "weird" vStrip problem - I think a quick (or better a longer) view at #15 of the Q&A will clear this up for you. ;)

So please try a run with the internal routines and report back on that.

Greetings,
Gerti

well, gerti, i tried what you said, after reading the #15 faq and, in fact, the slider in dvd2avi only takes me to the same cut short point that the mpeg did. in my last post to myself:D i stated i would try to edit the dvd2avi project file.d2v, but in fact, dvd2svcd uses the dvd2svcd project file.d2s, so i was thinking of changing this:
VobName_0=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_1.vob
VobName_1=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_2.vob
VobName_2=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_3.vob
VobName_3=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_4.vob
VobName_4=G:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_5.vob
VobName_5=G:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_6.vob

to this:

VobName_0=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_1.vob
VobName_1=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_2.vob
VobName_2=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_3.vob
VobName_3=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_4.vob
VobName_4=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_5.vob
VobName_5=E:\remember the titans\VTS_01_6.vob

in the d2s file since, as you can see from the data in the d2s file, for some reason the last two vobs were not referenced to the rippped HDD copies but rather to the dvd rom itself. i dunno, could work.

oh sh*t that wont work either since the dvd2svcd chapters file config settings have reference to only the 21 out of 33 chapters that got ripped in the first place. so i would have to manually enter the rest of the chapters and their start/stop frames in order for that to work, unless that file is generated after cce encoding sets in, in which case, the file would overwrite itself with the new, additional info from the two dropped vobs.
I need a beer!:scared:
