Whats the best way to encode Porn DVD's? Whenever I encode any normal movie with TMPGEnc they come out perfect but with porn DVD's they come out very blocky even if I give them a ton of bitrate. They come out the same way with ReMPEG2 also. How do most perverts encode porn DVD's?

I wish I could help and share in your predicament but my wife would @^@^@#^26 me. Anyway, don't those adult dvds have tons of multiangles? I'd try smartripper (only for the fact that I think it's good at multiangle dvds). Definitely only do a chapter at a time till you nail it down. Have you tried CCE? You could try changing field order to Bottom Field first just in case it's not auto-detecting it. Then last just for the heck of it try IVTC.

Ya I use smartripper, I've switched the field order, but I haven't tried CCE yet, if anyone knows how to encode these please post!

Adult videos are one of the hardest types to do. They are either camcorder based, multi-angle or the original quality is not so great.
Camcorder based material will not only require IVTC(if NTSC), but also require a surpisingly high bitrate. I tried to do one of those Girls Gone Wild videos not too long ago and no matter what I tried I could not get it to come out good at all.
These type of videos are where I give up and if I want a copy the trusty VCR still works.

Sometimes the hardest videos to do are the ones you think would be the easiest.

no personal experience here, but maybe some slight blending or blurring is in order. This could soften the picture and allow the encoder to create a better picture at a lower bitrate. Though lots of trial and error might be involved.

A bilinear resize and deinterlacing could help.

After you "snatch" that porn video and "thrust it deep" into your DVD drive and you have DVD2SVCD "opened up" you should "pound" the encoder tab and "slide into" the advanced level and uncheck the progressive "box" .. Most NTSC based porn videos are INTERLACED and many will give a better looking encode when encoded this way.

Well, that depends. If you watch it in a TV it's ok, but it looks like s**t in a progressive scan monitor.:D

Well let me tell you - the FEW NTSC encodes that I have done with the progressive box UNCHECKED ..

Disney's - American Legends
Eagles - Hell Freezes Over Concert
Tina Turner in Amsterdam Concert

Looked fine on my progressive scan monitor on my computer AND looked fine on my 53" TV - My question is this - How many encodes have you done this way ?( An NTSC source with the progressive box unchecked ) or are you just making a blanket statement here assuming what you THINK will happen ?

Anytime I have done an NTSC encode with the box left CHECKED you could see scan lines around objects moving quickly during high motion scenes.

Well, I wasn't exactly refering to that DVD2SVCD box, CHECKED or UNCHECKED. I don't know about blanket, but it is a fact that interlaced doesn't look good in a PC monitor. Just that.

All of the porn that I have encoded is interlaced. (bleh) If I encode as progressive, I can see interlacing (lines) artifacts on both my monitor AND tv.

After a few trial and error tests, I get the best result using CCE, UNCHECK progressive frames (makes sense) and UNCHECK upper field first (use bottom field first.) If left on upperfield the encode looks ok in windvd but "flickers" on my tv. IVTC seems to be a waste of time for porn. De-interlacing is also a lost cause.

The result is not too bad. These settings work on all porn I have tried. As mentioned below porn doesn't encode so well because of how its recorded, but as long as it's encoded properly it still looks decent.

@Screwdriver - Yeah - but the new version is automatic for field order and I have found that it seems to make the right pick for best encode.

@fox mulder - I don't know about your monitor but interlaced sources look ok on my monitor ..
