Hi!

I'm planning to author a DVD with stuff found at http://www.archive.org/movies/bytitle.html

They offer several choices ranging from VCD, DivX to MPEG-2

I also want to non-linear edit it first before burning them onto a DVD...

Which are my choices? Which are the recommendations for the BEST image quality plus editing capabilities available in the market? (Premiere? Avid?)

Thanks!

I do have access to Avid nonlinear video editing, but I want to be sure which option is best so I can later reedit and reauthor...

DivX? VCD? MPEG2?

I use Premiere myself for doing NLE stuff. But Premiere has a problem importing DivX and sometimes MPEG1/2. I would try Avid but I do not have access to it. As for quality, I think both would be the same as long as the codec you are using is the same.

The avid system should be better in terms of time to edit it. eg rendering etc. but the quality will prolly be the same.
